don't think so and even if it did, I think the visuals on ql are smoother but it's just a worse game. I've never seen a QL movie match the best frag movies ever, particularly cpm movies. hence why I want to make those.
the money is not a major issue, this is a hobby I just really want to pursue.
you should make some more movies too yours was good!
You can't say wntt's movies don't match the best cpm ones? :)
If you want to make quake movies as a hobby only you can set the limits for yourself how much effort you want to put into it, unless for example you want to extend your CV with editing talent.
WolfcamQL is a Quake 3 mod and have little to do with QL except it accept its demo support, I believe if you feed it Quake 3's baseq3 it will look pretty identical to Q3, and it supports Q3 demos as well.
If you want to edit CPMA demos I guess q3mme is your best bet, that's what all those other cpm movies was tweaked with. You probably will find everything you need here: http://q3mme.proboards.com/
As far as hardware goes I can't speak much about it, it all depends how much capacity you need for scripts and textures and how much time you are willing to wait for all the rendereing.
Software I recommend stick to Adobe as a bundle. Edit with premiere and learn the basics of photoshop, it helps a bunch. Other programs that are commonly used are handbrake or virtualdub.
The rest is as I said up to you how far you wanna take it. Basic editing is very straight forward and easy to do, and many people prefer that style of edit. An over edited and 'advanced' movie doesn't nessecerily have to be better than the most simple one, but I'm sure you are aware of this.
Also mr potat should make more movies, espeically in the style of imperator. :)
Yeah I was gonna make a king of fire / imperator hybrid... got demos and music but just don't have time/energy at the moment. moviemaking is exhausting as you know :<
Good news! I consider moviemaking a little bit like laying a puzzle, first you must find the pieces (frags) and then slowly putting them together through editing. Sometimes you jam the wrong piece in the wrong place and have to go back a few steps. It's not supposed to be be done over a night, it will take the time it takes until all pieces fall together, and the puzzle will always be as hard as you pick it to be.
