CPMA is the original quake movement style, as it is the implementation of Q1/Qw movement in Q3... What QC basically became is a CPMA of some sort. Everyone uses champions who have some special moving abilities (fast, air control, double jump, etc.) and ignore the ones who are Q3A based with normal control and no speed advantages. So, do I find game totally unbalanced champions wise? Yes! Did LG netcode fix help players who use Anarki? Yes and no, his simply too small and fast, same as Slash and extremely hard to hit with LG and RG for 98% of players.

In Q1(netquake), Q2, Q3 and Q4, there is no bunny hopping by default. There are only strafe jumps.

Actually "by deafult" there isn't even strafejumping in Q1, just walking/running forward. Strafejumping / bunnyhopping was discovered and developed by players (square root 2 acceleration), it was not an intended/"by design" thing. Since discovery, there has been extremely fast and elaborate bunnyhopping in Quake1 (even more control than CPMA/anarki)

Also QW aka Quakeworld is not a "mod", it's the internet optimized client for quake1, I don't even know where you got that BS from.

The "cpm players" is not a valid excuse. Everyone can learn the movement, that uses the same principles present in every quake game, except for a little more air control; it takes skills, you can dislike it, but it's egalitarian.

Blame the champions system, the shitty netcode, the hitboxes, the round system, the items, those are all valid complaints. But not that the "cpm movement" (it's actually QUAKE 1 MOVEMENT) favors someone else. That's just a poor excuse. Anarki is strong? Then play him. You can't? That sucks for you. But nobody is stopping you from playing and "abusing" him, too.

Air bunny became the gamestyle for QW because it far was superior. The amazing part is that this wasn't some gimmick invented by the devs like QC's champ abilities, the game&players evolved naturally. They rolled it back in Q3 to help noobs... but now they put the thing and the next phase of evolution that made it extinct in the same cage.

I know u support it and kudos for ur patience and good faith. I was in the same train as you, I mostly liked it, but everyone has his threshold. Community has spoke about CPM champs and anarki countless of times and with excellent arguments. Pro players, including cooller, as well. But THEY WON'T LISTEN! I played vs cypher before few days and he was using anarki, even though he had said that he will never use him.

Lg was the only weapon working netcode wise and it turns out that wasn't actually working, they had just tricked us into thinking it was with their lame fix. Now, that they removed the lame fix, lg is useless again. Unless you play vs a tank, which is rare with current balance, lg will be useless even as a starting weapon.

watching is also super boring. 3 frags per round, +back heavy, no timing or map control skills, rockets and railgun only, watching endlessly players running around the map, with random engagements and super random results. the only fun parts come from abilities, like using the orb dooi style.

imo we should hire a lawyer as a community and ask from bethesda and id compensation for our suffering.

Watching raisy's & garpy's Q1 style duels was the most entertaining thing yet, dynamic fast action, not the lame peek-a-boo with players sitting behind corner / column as if it was CS GO, with pressing a peek strafe + fire once being the big fkn action for minutes. Btw there is nothing wrong with CS GO, but aren't that and quake supposed to be the opposite end of the FPS spectrum?

These matches were some of the few QC duels where I didn't find myself suddenly tabbed out or trolling chat out of boredom. Previously I literally tried super hard to glue my eyes to these QC duels, and failed, oops I suddenly realized I was browsing the tube again they were so lame.

Heh, just like me. I tried it a little bit over this weekend but this engine except the visuals of map structure sucks a lot. I can even live with the concept of champions but I don't feel the environment in this game. Weapon mechanics and sound system feels awkward to me or maybe my PC is just not good enough to play the game smooth.

I thought that you may like it because movement on Anarki and Sorlag is quite cool. This is the thing I enjoy the most in this game so far.

I'm used to CPM, i.e. Q1+Q2+Q3. All at the same time. Anarki and sorlag are merely q1(qw), except qw never had a speed cap. There is no comparison between cpm and any champion in qc.

While I agree with all your points, I have to say that QL matches were not all action. On many maps most of the time was spent looking for/hiding from the enemy based on your stack situation and score.

Not that, that cannot be exciting (it often were), but saying it's all action is only really true on fast paced maps like aero and toxicity.

But back to the point of QC. The game is fucking garbage. And I say this as someone who was positive minded in the beginning. It’s just unfathomable how horrible they managed to make the game. I literally cannot wrap my head around how it is even possible to make so many design mistakes. From engine selection to gameplay decisions to the economic model. NOTHING makes sense. Just nothing. It is mind blowing.

QL was about as exciting as watching paint dry.

I always found it was really fun for the first couple of games or so, then it got boring real fast. Its why I only mostly watched the games which were pretty much guaranteed to be the best. Usually ones with tox in, or cypher. Just so fun to watch them go full terminator mode.

I think QC is perhaps overall more fun to watch, unless it turns into a back fest, sometimes it gets into a deadlock which is really boring. I think maybe in sudden death, the two players should be teleported to thunderstruck with all weaps and max armour/hp and just finish it. The champions can have some kind of finishing movie like sorlag bites around their head and pulls it off with their spine following it. Maybe.

I watched tonnes of QL tourneys for years. They had some nice matches and action, even amazing action, but I still stick to my point, this was better, overall Q3/QL tended top become a CS GO style rail peek-a-boo. Sniping * 50, move in for the kill * 1. When I watched/played the original quake, it's almost the exact opposite: dance-like movement with great momentum, aiming, shooting while moving most of the time, and for me that defined the "Quake Style"

When LG nerf update was released Rapha said it will favour Anarki mains.

Seems straight-forward. The best dodging (or hardest to hit) champion does better when you remove the bug that allows anyone to hit 40% LG on anyone.

It's hitscan, you hit where your crosshair is.

not at 60 ping - it lags behind the crosshair significantly... have you used the cg_truelightning cmd in ql? it just seems to be set to '1' in qc

in QL it's hitscan aswell, and cg_truelightning "0" doesn't change the fact that you still hit where the crosshair is, not where the beam is.
QC has even more generous anti-lag, so you still hit where your crosshair is up to rediculous pings.

It can be hitscan and lagged the way he means anyway. LG was hitscan in osp too but you had to compensate for ping, hitscan just means its not a projectile so you dont have to calculate trajectory.

That being said I dont think you have to shoot in front of or behind depending on ping in qc, the backward reconciliation is afaik unlimited which means crosshair on enemy is where you want to aim with lg, rail, mg etc

I'm trying to picture this and I guess the beam does ultimately (eventually) hit where the crosshair is at high ping in QL, but adjusting truelightning and seeing the beam lag behind the crosshair like a wet noodle helped give me an idea of when it would 'catch up' to the crosshair, which I found helpful

in QL it is up to 80ms ping until the LG is not unlagged anymore, so you still hit where your crosshair is all the time, and not where the beam is drawn with truelightning 0.
The same applies to QC, just that it's unlagged way over 100ms ping.
That truelightning 0 was only useful for baseq3/OSP, where there wasn't unlagged netcode, and you indeed was hitting where the beam noodle was, and not where your crosshair was.

Keep in mind that damage plums and beeps may be serverside and still appear delayed even if actual hit registration is unlagged.

Sadly servers are filling up fast with him, and FFA is the mode most new players get into.

With the new LG nerf, I'm hitting less than 20% LG against 5 of those players on the FFA.

That basically means the starting machine gun is probably a better alternative for me that using the LG as I can at least attack from further back.

Funny how it's 2002 again (not that I played back then) and people forget the difference between CPMA the mod and CPM the gamepay again!

Because in 2017 that distinction serves no purpose or use as all the people who would have played CPMA VQ3 are now playing QL, and the only people left are the CPMA cpm players ;)

is completely false. They are not Anarki mains. It favours they playstyle, yes, but definitely not mains.

Also, dooi was top 3 and I don't recall him using Anarki at all.

Their mains is anarki right now cuz anarki is the strongest character in game :P
Dooi is playing really well with other strong characters such as Clutch tho

When they nerfed LG I think they could have done one of these things and it might have gone down better:
- Increase the range of it so its more effective against RL, as it is now you have to get so close that you don't stand much chance at all.
- Put in temporary cylindrical hitboxes with the LG nerf, until the new hitboxes are ready. At least for the small champs.
