i'm totally detached from this game, but it sounds like the LG problem comes from the way backwards reconciliation is being performed. based on my understanding of qc development so far, i'm guessing that the issue stems from bad fundamental implementation of backwards reconciliation, and that for this update the developers have literally specifically patched server behavior when analyzing lg activity, rather than addressing the fundamental flaw.
there's no way to prove this, and this is total speculation, but this seems like very quick turnaround for a bug that shouldn't be exclusive to LG.
i'm curious if the same behavior can be replicated for other hitscan weapons. can anybody test this with rail gun?
Played couple of more hours, probably 6 hours in a row now. FUCK THIS FUCKING NERF LG SHIT PATCH. Go play 5 min of QL and compare LG with QC? This is fucking same for you? YOU SERIOUS? QC lg IS GARBAGE, this is not even L of LG, this is complete shit and joke change before Dalas tournament.
Congratulations Anarki players, a deserved victory in Dallas.
After all, I hope this was a troll update by devs....
Do you remember when lg was shit a few months ago? They supposedly fixed it back then, but what they really did is they gave it that bullshit mechanic which enabled Parkinson abuse. They did it either because they are too incompetent or too lazy to fix it properly and they hoped nobody would notice.
Now they just rolled it back to how it was months ago and said they fixed it
lg was actually the only weapon that seemed to work netcode wise.
every patch they make the game worse. At this point, it might be better to return 2-3 or more patches back and stop trying to improve anything and just add content, like maps and modes. Yes it's bad, but bad is better than shit and with every patch they make it shittier. It is already enough for not playing it. I know that many ppl stopped long before me and it seems that I have a high threshold, but they managed to finally reach it and of course, it will only get worse.
Most importantly, justified their salary in the process.
"Look we listened to the community and fixed the LG issue!" -- fails to mention they caused it in first place, by previously lazily "fixing" a previous issue. Also fails to mention the time wasted in all this process, and that there's still issues with the currently implemented solution.
Saber, have some pride in your work. How come every single of your games has been plagued with technical issues.
This circular non-progress process means the devs aren't progressing on fixing the actual huge technical and art flaws of the game, that make people quit, because they are busy doing other stuff.
For starters QC runs horribly. For example QC is still a stuttering mess in all PCs in gametypes that have multiple kills, like Deathmatch and Sacrifice. That happens because there's a stutter every time somebody respawns, one that affects all players in the server. 100 stutters per game, affecting everybody. Hasn't been fixed or tried to fix, in six months.
Then the visibility and graphics in this game are horrible. Instead of improving them, the art team solely focuses on making custom models and skins, that on the testing phase of the game. Zero changes whatsoever on the art and graphics department, in six months.
Those two aspects, namely the engine and art problems, are the silent killers of QC, and in six whole months nothing has been done to fix them.
Look at the Steam reviews and the horrible rating QC already has (75% overall 59% recent): most people complain about the game running badly (for the meh QC graphics), not being able to see a thing and MM being unfair. Zero complains about a LG bug, no praise to the custom models, yet Saber solely focuses on those things.
And BTW those already low ratings are coming from the paying customers, the enthusiasts. Ratings are going to plummet once the game goes f2p, so when non-fan ratings come and also from people that have to face a game plagued with limitations to non-payers. Thing is, in the future nobody is going to try an already dying game with a 'mixed' rating (59%).
We all want the game to succeed, but it saddens me to see the lack of prioritization in a game that's already dying. Steamcharts shows half of the paying customers have stopped playing the game... and while that happens, Saber focuses on re-re-re fixing a bug.
I had the feeling that sometimes the LG was hitting less than what it was supposed to do when I tried yesterday, and I never used the parkinson technique. I thought it was me that had a wrong feeling but it seems many people are complaining now.
What do you mean when you say that LG is shit precisely ?
it was the right decision to remove wiggle LG. The game was all about LG and who had the lowest self control to not abuse it. At a tournament where money is on the line like DH everyone would've used it and it would've degraded to a shitshow (just like the CIS DH qualifier.. some were using it extensively). And there's no way of enforcing a rule like "don't wiggle" since everyone wiggles to a certain degree and you'd have to base decisions of banning someone on subjective feels which will always be unfair to one party.
why should the QL and QC LG be the same?
yes the QL LG feels smooth as a baby's bottom, but thats QL.
If you want QC to feel like QL, just go back to QL.
Or! and this is just an idea... accept that the game is not the same as past quakes.
if you can stop whining about how past quakes were better play qc and enjoy it, or dont play qc at all and go back to what you know.
only reason quake ever grew to be so great in first place was because of the old ID programmers, carmack and the crew. The choice to open source everything allowed the community to enhance it further. fuck ID software for hiring a shitty ass developing studio like Saber. What did they expect?
I really enjoyed QC, I think I could've loved what it could've potentially grown into.
But with every update, the performance issues get worse - new bugs come to light. I get that it's early access but the fact that we've had to wait weeks for basic fixes, and are still waiting on fixes for bugs that were diagnosed months ago is appalling. The developers *still* don't listen to the community - after years of mismanaging QL into the ground, you'd think they'd have learned?
And in this update, they patched a bug that essentially worked the same way as a cheat would, and simultaneously ruined any last semblance of competent hit registration the game had.
Sorry, but that's the last straw for me. So much potential thrown down the drain, back to QL for good now.
qc dev timeline looks like: (id office)

that explains so fine LG accuracies on the last DH (I'm sure they had top notch PCs), while Internet part of community says that LG is useless now. and this w/o accounting netcode issues when it comes to play on 20+ pings
looks like QC needs a pmove_fixed for the gameplay in general.
i'm guessing that to fix this, the current QC developers will add a per-frame check of current cells vs. time spent since last frame, and use some kind of case switching to determine whether or not that many cells should have been fired, then reset to the correct number of cells, which will result in weird overhead on the server, causing a datacenter fire that will end the internet as we know it.
How do they go from here? That's easy, they lock the fps at 60 so it's equal for everyone, and then they add Sponge Error as an upcoming champion. When Sponge Error uses his ability he adds a whooping +5 fps to his game.

Total amateur hour by whoever did the firing logic. This is the kind of thing that happened in my game programming class in school, not at a AAA studio.
First there was militia, which people tried. Then there was Q43a, which people tried even more. Now, from p0rt productions, comes QC3a. It'll make you try it like you've never tried before.
anti-cheat is likely to be the most important aspect of the game. only ESEA and overwatch have good anticheat, and thats because ESEA is a rootkit that puts itself into your bootloader so it begins before windows (along with other features like forcing driver signature enforcement & netcode encryption). Overwatch only has a decent anticheat that is non-intrusive because blizzard spends a lot of money hiring top anticheat developers. You can get banned in that game for trying to read the memory (this is basically required to make a cheat) & can't play offline & its not cheap to buy new copies while attempting to make a cheat.
i'm not sure how they'll make a quality game that is able to grow, considering they can't fix the LG hitbox without using a stupid hack that makes you autoaim by wiggling your mouse around the target & the DPS/framerate thing. also nyx ruins duel & makes me have to pick visor every time, will they ever make it enjoyable? who knows
Anticheat is not going to matter in a game with 500 players. They should first focus in making the game be enjoyable to play, so that people stop quitting. http://steamcharts.com/app/611500
Actually, my own team accounts for 1.5% of the whole active game's population on Steam. Just sad.
well, I dont get why everyone is talking about steam?
I got the game in the launcher immediately like I guess most of the players. I considered going to steam when I realized it was possible to hide weapon ect with steam launcher. But since it's not the case anymore, there's no point.
I know it's not complete representation of the playerbase, but it does show the sad trend that a major portion of paying customers do drop the game fast.
IMPOSSIBRU :<
u cant just take an ms dx forward-render engine and port to OpenGL open-sourcy engine with some unique things like megatextures, cluster-lightning-render and stuff. They are too different. it takes about 1 year approx,
even if there are will be insta-donut-making-machine right to sync's and wolly's working desktops
all the champs and maps seem to be made in maya.
i'd assume..lol... they save the files. textures, animations etc as assets.
the standard file format in games is .OBJ and tha's a standard file format for all cgi apps.
re-rendering doesn't take that long when everything is already made.
It's not a very big game. Might take less time to port it over than fix saber bs.
