Still trying to be hopeful, but this is taking forever and it doesn't really seem to be going anywhere - no alpha, no beta ... no release estimates at all and it's way over the "deadline" already.

It's shaping up good, far better than QC, but of course it is going at slow pace because of small team.

diabotical has lame player models.
only (esr-)quake players need player models which look like ugly balloons, so they can hit their 60% lg, 90% rail.

(thats also the reason, why they cant play QC. since its 2difficult to aim at skinny models)

I'd say that most of the KS backers, who don't idle in Diabotical discord or visit forums regularly for updates, probably have the feeling that the game is vaporware and have forgotten all about it. Even people who do idle in Discord and visit the forums are getting a bad feeling between the lack of updates and the fact 2GD seems to spend a lot of time playing/streaming other games... It does have that whiff of vaporware about it.

I suspect something must've gone sideways on this project and that must've set them back a ways. Like the underlying engine they were using had some serious constraints and they had to go back and fix it or proceed with the constraints in place. The original plan was for 10-12 months development time. It's now been 18 months and the dev is saying at least another 5 months before the closed beta. Unless the scale of the game has changed dramatically, doubling the development time isn't a good sign. Unless they've gotten outside investment, how could they afford to work for 2 years on something they have only 1 year's worth of funding for?

This is pretty normal for indie projects (and IT projects in general) where the devs don't have previous experience.

I hope not. I'm really looking forward to playing this and hope they pull it off. If it gets to this summer and there's still no open/closed beta, it'll be depressing.

Delays, but indie projects get canceled all the time also because of lack of funding or poor time estimates. 2GD can't really cancel it at this point.

With QC flop, DM MP genre is wide open. 2gd has a big follow base and is a pro player. Hoping this project doesnt goes MIA. I want to feel again that urge to play an amazing DM game with a non stagnant, growing community. Do it!
