Nope. Being passive on the market is guaranteed bankruptcy. They need to be competitive in every field if they want to stay big. At the moment the only answer to OW was Paladins and QC, but not that kind of caliber. Definitely Valve may ear good cash on TF3. TF2 player base is still active too. I think there's high chance of financial success.

Easily feasible.

They've got a decent-ish engine and possibly an updated version in development.

They've got huge knowledge in terms of matchmaking, comp. multiplayer, running tournaments, hype marketing, monetization... from CS:GO.

They could go for their own TF-style or even for a more "realistic" iteration in the vein of CS or TF1 or even Half-Life-Universe.

My problem with Blizzard has been that it is quite washed down and totally a-politic (in terms of they dare nothing to do anything out of the ordinary). Valve surely has more soul.

On the other hand they risk cannibalizing their other big one that just recently hit a peak with Counterstrike and should ride that wave until the game is fully outdated.

Cannot seeing happening there is literally no reason. The market is oversaturated as it is, TF2 being the candidate for the originator and still being the top 2 game in the scene. Since Blizzard never releases any player numbers we'll never know, but TF2 has been in the top5 of steam constantly since it launch a decade ago.

Making TF3 wouldn't give them anything really, it would be like making Dota 3 in the hopes of getting people away from LoL while not killing Dota 2 at the same time.

I wish Blizzard would add a Quake mode to overwatch with QL like physics / movement (and for that specific mode no character differences, i.e. those characters only functioniong as models for aesthetic purposes)
