noctis would be awesome for sure. l1nkin too, who has a very good knowledge of the French scene at the times of aAa and co and the Quake scene in general.

Also ZeRo4, since he is pretty much "retired" from playing in the competitive scene, now that he's working at id (at least for now). He's had one of the longest "careers" in Quake, been a world champion, having a full reflection on all that would be nice, to see how he saw the game and players evolve from like 20 years ago, up until today.

I'd much prefer this after he leaves idsoft.

Fazz seems like a realy good person. Nice to see the person behind the nick thats been around for so long. Thats good about quake in 2017 is that many assholes left the game a long time ago, and you have nice people like fazz left

this may be the first "reflections" that I'll watch due to fazz just being a cool guy. also, he seems to be the only "pro" with some sense of humour. (okay, besides 2gd of course, but yames is on a different level.)

Have always liked Fazz since I met him at WCG in 2001. Also hung out with Prozac quite a bit there as well, and I have to agree: the guy is a character and very fun to be around. Had me laughing all the time.

Great interview, watched it all. My only disappointment is how fazz was unable to describe the play styles of fox and prozac, especially since he had played with them. I mean, I could talk about their play styles in some detail just from being an avid spectator. But knowing the 'inside' information is more fun.
This also reminds me of one of my favorite past matches vs a fazz-less EYE.

I haven't listened to the interview, and won't do it either due to cringe of hearing my own voice :D

I also barely remember any of the questions due to being extremely tired and jetlagged, this was recorded after coming home from Denver and working a whole day without any sleep. So I was actually worried it would be really bad, very thankful people seem to have enjoyed it.

But I can answer your question about prozac and fox here. And the honest answer is I can't really explain it in detail because I did not actually play a lot with them, the time in p1mps for me was very short and I never played an official game with them. And with prozac I only played the 2v2 tournament in 2001 and with fox I only played at the prague Lan which we didn't really practise for either.

My general sense of playing against them though is that fox is was a player with extreme awareness, perfect positional play and a very unique style of aiming. As an example, when fox fakenicked on duel servers(he did this, ALOT), I could always tell it was him after just one fight. I always called him out on hit and he raged about me realizing so fast, every time :D

Prozac also had perfect awareness and was a extremly good fighter. Not nearly as well thought out positonal player as fox. Prozac was the definition of a talent player that trusted his gut feeling more than anything. Just like me I would say. He also had an eye for building teams and making strategies in tdm, winning eurocup with QPO(who did not have other top players imo, was his biggest achievement by far, extremely impressive.

That's a great analysis thank you :) I agree too. Although in my experience Fox was always a 'position holder' for ice climbers, for instance on DM6 he would always be the RA holder etc. Prozac to me was always the real team leader, on the front line. He would always focus on major items (like mega health on ospdm5 etc) and due to his major stack, would make major moves with his skill and intuition. I think in TDM the positional play of certain players allowed their inner strengths to come out. You are a very inspirational player fazz, please keep playing Quake :)

By the way - I just remembered. The part where you mentioned TDM becoming too cessy and less strategic highly reminds me of the Forze russian dominance era, with Mikes - They even turned DM14 into pure cess! Who would have thought? :D

Oh and one more thing!!! If I was interviewing you, I would have asked you about the Swedish TDM star Blue! A lot of people forget his small but interesting comeback in the Quakecon 2v2 tourney with 2GD. I wonder if you had any history with him?

I have A LOT of history with blue actually.

The first thing that comes to mind, is me(who was then a very unknown pleb) vs him(who was about as big as you could get quake fame wise back then) on tourney2 duel. He beat me like 45-2. I was so frustrated and didn't know what to do.

When I got to play him next, which was like one queue spot later so about 15 minutes. I thought to myself, let's just try my absolute best at all given time. Always try not to die, no matter what.

I then beat him with like a 3-2 score, playing +back for almost all game. This was a huge paradigm for me waking up to the realization of what was possible to do in this game if you really put all focus in the right spots. (I was probably 15 or 16 years old at this time)

Over the years blue has probably been one of my few real practice partners for duel and I have, to quote him, made him quit the game a couple of times after too many t4 games in a row :D

That is awesome, thanks for the story :) I remember years ago I tried to collect all his old *Allstars TDM demos, they were very hard to find even with cached.net and challenge.tv etc, they were always so much fun to watch, his rail was always so intuitive and natural. Back then I used to use a high fov, but when I saw he used fov 90 I tried to lower mine.
