QL Is fun but there aren't enough competition. People left for PUBG or other life pursuits. QL will always be my fav though.

The main problem with quake is that too many old cunts are too good and that scares off those younger players man. There aren't enough young talented players like myself who stick around.

The problem with quake is it's too hard. Even when i played the game for 6 months i didn't really enjoy it because it was too stressful but i stuck around because i was young and poor.

Maybe it's because there aren't enough players overall, but there's something wrong with matchmaking.

Quake is that kind of game where a tiny skill difference can lead to 5-30 scores in tdm and 10-30 scores in ffa. It's really hard to find a good balance, because either you will have 10 mins+ queue time, or games where new players are obliterated (and not just only new... I mean, even most oldschool players are getting wrecked sometimes...).

But at the very least, there needs to be some servers/matches where only beginners are allowed to play. They shouldnt face oldskool players before they manage to totally dominate other new players.

And well, one really big problem QC has, and that is way way way more damaging for players numbers than netcode, hitbox and all that stuff only 200 players in the world notice. You can't play public with friends, like we all did for years. So basically either you play duel with your friend, or you both queue and end up playing on different servers, and you leave quake...

I feel you man. Hoping for some HOQ CA cups, could create some competition. Other than that I think it's all over for Live.

Looks like QL has more active players than QC, at least on Steam. Still some small tournaments going on, like HoQ and some Russian tournaments. Someone who really like Quake and have resources could sponsor a few tournaments and I think there could be more interest. Or some new good way go gather funds to tournaments. TDM pick ups games almost every day at http://tdmpickup.eu and https://discord.gg/ug8exc , easiest to find games on evening EU time.

I have no problems finding several active FFA games almost any time of the day. Getting many new players could be hard though I guess, probably easier to get players back that have played QL or other Quake games before. Or similar FPS games.
