Doing the job covering the games for people that might have missed the tournament, or they want to look at specific game / games. ..and an admin deleted my topic .. Yes, idiots were shit posting, i responed to that, but an admin that deleted my topic seems to abuse his power over me:) GJ, what can I say :) Doing something for the community is bad :) So what the hell, lets just destroy each other till 0 of us left in Quake instead to keep together and build this small community
your topic wasn't deleted, it was nuked. admins typically do not delete topics that have responses.
you didn't cover anything. you've provided copies of coverage and content created by others.
esreality is not a platform for your web marketing seo 3rd world entrepreneurial bullshit. you complain about the "destroying each other till 0 of us left in quake", all while you're leeching whatever minuscule value you can from the community through your bumbling and inept attempts at monetizing lazy and low-effort content duplication.
that 2% could be 10% or more if you were a creative and productive content provider. however, the small community here is familiar with your particular "brand" of "coverage".
What I've watched of quake champions I have actually watched through your channel, CAREEM. Mostly because id software is too retarded to upload properly separated VODS in due time on the game's official channel, but still. It's a useful ressource. But your PR/marketing is shady and dishonest, and it's absolutely correct that the thing you do can in no meaningful way be considered coverage. I would suggest removing the ads on those vids and putting up a donation button instead.
i want to be clear here that i'm not copyright police, and i also think it's a nice resource to provide. i don't care if he puts ads, or whatever he wants in his videos. it's not a problem for him to use esr to share his videos. i also don't mind his 'marketing persona' that he presents.
however, esreality isn't a platform for unilateral commercial advertisement. that's spam.
i welcome careem to share his videos, and have defended him in admin forums. however, if he wants to share his videos, then the least he can do is share links to his actual videos (or even a playlist of the relevant videos) and describe them accurately, rather than linking to his main youtube channel with a weak attempt to get referral clicks and build trust with content archivers like google using canned deceptive keyword language to manipulate how search engines and organizational algorithms categorize "his" content.
if it's okay for careem to lazily spam his keyword-laden advertisement as a forum post on esreality, is it okay for me? or you? or anybody? if so, then at what rate?
do you understand that if you siphon views away from their official channels its negatively affecting their results that they have to provide to the sponsors?
i know its more convenient to watch on youtube than on twitch but thats such a small inconvenience it cannot justify to just copy and upload to own channel that you make money off...
I agree with a lot of the things said in this thread.
From a Marketing point of view, if you're re-using someone else's content and literally ripping it to re-upload it to Youtube and then running monetisation on it, that's some shady as fuck shit, if Bethesda decide to hit you with a copyright infringement then they can and will do, you'll either get suspended or banned off of youtube.
So yeah, you always need to ask for permission. I understand a lot of other content creators don't, so they get away with a lot of shit.
So if you're gonna do that, like a few have mentioned, just drop a donation button and see if people will support you.
Now on the flipside, if you're creating unique content around your own videos, you know? Extra editing, commentary, anything new added to it, then yeah, you could slap some monetisation on it because technically you created the content.
Youtube practice has always been in a grey-zone when using a game as the main driving force for the unique content creation. Then you'll need to find royalty free music to go with it etc. It's a pain initially but when you've got a flow of things, making content is pretty easy.
So yeah, kudos for you for looking to make people more aware, I've watched a few videos from your channel because twitch is a pain in the ass 99% of the time.
I'd just look at doing shit ethically to try and drive a few more $$$ to your bank account.
