more like 2010, right when 0.6 was released. before that the community wasn't shrinking. even though it was small, it was growing slowly and retaining players. 0.6 was the knife in the gut of warsow.

In my case, constant changes in all aspects for the sake of change, many of which were backwards for the experience.

The original wdm2 (the brown map) was sooo gooood. And it was completely replaced, because reasons.

not many, but yes. there usually are multiple pickups on daily basis, though bomb only. and there's usually a populated ca pub. not saying it's healthier than ever (the opposite is the case), but I've seen games more dead than this. also there are a few decently skilled ppl regularly dueling, and like 1-3 who are rlly good.
though at the very moment even less because the menu is temporary fucked (u can only connect via console unless u download some fix spread via irc. new guy that wants to bring it out on steam and ex-devs spilled bad blood, the withdrawl from server hosting of old devs cause(d) some issues)

I liked 0.12, didn't care as much for the later releases (although still enjoyable)!

Sadly, the game didn't gain momentum and is, well, with a small player base.

yes, as stated above - several bomb pickups happening on a daily basis with a few fairly skilled players, some new guys, and some oldschoolers..
no more competition though as there are only 1-2 real clans and nobody is hosting (duel) cups anymore (team zissou cumback plz aha)
some dude has been working on warsow 2.2 for about a year now but it hasnt got released yet
