Doom '16 is really nice FPS game with good gameplay, but still broken, has no support and need more content inside. It's main reason why I returned in Quake Live.
Can't wait for Doom sequel, don't wanna anything else. :>
Groove and action of Doom, shooting mechanics in this game is really something. This game is slower than Quake, has only two weapon in loadout but it's enough to real FUN and competition.
QC is utter crap for me. It's half of Quake, it has all "problems" of any old Quake game, but with heroes and abilitties, as for me, isn't really new, feels weird, and looks like a compromise with fucking causal shit. But it doesn't works, this game isn't for casual, this game is for nobody. IMHO.
I'm still looking for some new FPS, but it must be not QC, for sure! I understand next Doom release date is too far. Just see...
CoD WaW Zombies @ 2-4 player co-op LAN at my place
CoD BO1 Zombies @ 2-4 player co-op LAN at my place
Well, ye, I KNOW. I FUCKIN KNOW. But these are the only games (so far!) that my close friends are willing to play with me. : D
We tried nQuake and CPMA, but guess the result. Moral of the story; they want to play co-op only in any shooter. ))
Also
NFS: Porsche Unleashed @ 2-4 player LAN at my place - the last true NFS, great-great fun, both in single and multi. I'll probably play a few rounds online as well via IPLounge.
ZDoom @ 3-4 player LAN on maps made in-house, at my place
We might see some more 2-4 player Heroes of Might and Magic III Complete LANs in the basement again, just like through the whole summer of 2016. I hope at least.
There are a few other ideas getting considered as well, as I'm trying to find solutions which are good for everybody (so no Quakes, SC: BW, WC3, etc...). I'm eager to try AvP 99, Shogo: M.A.D. and Far Cry 2 (on own map) with them as well.
There's even a girl among us and she only plays racing games. I don't want her to feel neglected, so NFS: PU is fine, but I'm looking into other options as well.
They are a hard crowd to please (mainly because of the lack of their experience). I wish they knew more english, then it would be viable to play Baldur's Gate or Fallout: Tactics on LAN. Those were awesome fun a few years prior, would be nice to re-live those memories once again.
And later this year, most probably
CS 1.6 @ 6-12 player LAN at friends' house
WC3: TFT @ 6-12 player LAN at friends' house
He's been busy lately with 2 jobs and 2 kids, but he used to host sleep-over Saturday LANs once in every 3-4 weeks with many people, for years. We hope his schedule will loosen up a bit this year to bring those back in practice.
Also felt like playing some singleplayers lately. I played some GTA V till I got bored by the lacking difficulty of the missions. Going to play some Mass Effect 2 since I loved the first one.
Me and some mates will play Battalion when it gets released. How about you guys?
QL CA because it's easy to play casually and it's still quake in a way.
I'll try to play tdm a bit again but it requires time investment to be decent so it's not sure.
Will probably try Rocket league.
Tried PUBG and QC last year, don't understand why game studios don't deliver quality products anymore. Seems like the industry is riddled with early access and freemium bullshit. They want to make money before delivering a good product, it should be the other way around.
Masterservers still works, instead of a few offline periods. I'd used discord for team work, but newer for player's finding. Yesterday played 6x6 TDM, CTF is every evening.
People make new servers, some people still vanilla Q3 more than QL or cpma. And q3e (edawn-mod.org) has new functions and capabilities for old good Q3, which is still feels good. Today i can play with ping 20, from other country, which was like LAN 15 years ago.
Was super hyped about 'Blast out' and thought that would be my main multiplayer game. Unfortunately the game got delayed and then the devs royaly fucked the launch up which basically meant that only 20-50 players were playing the game the first 1-2 weeks and then it dropped to 10 players at peak and now, a few months later, no one is playing. Literally no one. Such a terribly shame. The game was well done and the game play is super fun.
It kinda looks a bit like Battlerite in the trailer, but it's far from it. Its a 90% clone of the old wc3 map called Warlock Brawl. The concept is defeating your opponents not by pure damage in the usual arena-type games (like Battlerite), but by pushing them out of the circle/arena with knockbacking spells. It's super fun! I have the paid version of Battlerite and yeah that is indeed a great game, but this is just more fun for me at least. Maybe because I have countless of LAN hours in the warcraft 3 map, dunno :D.
This trailer gives a better impression of the game (although not much):
My main games have been Rocket League, Quake 2, and Fortnite. Just tried fortnite a few days ago. I still suck but very much enj0y. I don't even want to try pubg because you can't build forts. Fuck that.
Not sure why he is proposing Battalion 1944 if you were interested in PUBG. PUBG is a Battle Royale game with very specific (and addicting) game mechanics, B1944 is a hybrid CSGO/COD pro mod style FPS centered around fast movement, reflexes and conventional game modes. It's not a bad game at all though, just not comparable to PUBG.
Fortnite is a very arcade approach to the BR genre. PUBG is much more realistic and you can apply military tactics if you want. Consider PUBG like a DayZ on steroids and with better gun and movement physics. I'm not a big fan of fortnite but you might be, who knows.
Here is a pro tip : you can in fact play more than 1 game ! Why not buy both or multiple.
been enjoying fortnite br lately. it's kind of arcadey enough so that the fights feel fun and not based in realism shit like everything nowadays and the building reduces a lot of the random bullshit of BR modes.
Gun mechanics are also bad - apart from that I don't like the building system as it does not punish you for making stupid decisions. Running and get caught in the open? No problem, let me quickly build a fucking castle and laugh at you shooting bricks.
I'm very rarely playing other games anymore. I'm essentially down to one game.
I'd say I play other multiplayer stuff on 5 to 10 days a year tops. That would be for LANs/nerd parties, or for seasonal patches of Siege or Street Fighter, or trying out Steam or emulated games with pals for 20 mins.
One single player game a year. In 2018 it was Cuphead, in 2017 it was Dying Light with a friend cooperatively.
I don't look forward to any other game, multi or single. Guess I'd only be moderately interested in playing the new Mario.
Used to play QC until two or three weeks ago, just farming rune challenges and learning to use all characters, but I haven't opened the game since having finished them to a reasonable extent. I don't see the point of playing that anymore: literally tried and did everything the game has to offer. Maybe I'd come back if tournaments with third-world qualifiers are announced, but I'd only play duel and 2v2. No more public servers for me.
On that note, I've never cared about "online esports achievements". What motivates me regarding tournaments is attending events, and since there's no events left for games I'm good at, then the competitive side of the hobby is dead for me. So, the only chance is if there's a qualy here to go to QC. If there is not one this year, "esports" die for me.
I also used to play Rocket League a lot until some months ago, but with that game I too have the sensation of having finished it. Just hoping there's ever Steam market support for selling the items.
Maybe there's another reason why I stopped playing QC and Rocket League. That is, those two were the only multiplayer games that I used to play solo. Other than those, I haven't played anything multiplayer solo in maybe the past 10 years. I get bored.
For me the hobby is fading away. There's better stuff to do in life, and better uses for money as well. Then, my favorite game franchises are on the verge of death, so nothing interests me. Plus most of my gaming friends have either left the country for good (soon going to do that as well) or have stopped playing games, so it's difficult to continue doing this even if I wanted to.
If it wasn't for PUBG I'd have likely sold the gaming PC. Come to think about it, the same happened with OW in 2016. I was about to sell until that game managed to make some old pals come back to games.
Actually I have a bit of a gaming collection I amassed years ago, just sitting there collecting dust. Should start selling that now that the prices have skyrocketed. Well other than the game boy and gaming related books parts, because those rock, even if for only displaying them.
It's good to try to reinvent yourself throughout your life and leave stuff behind, better than hanging on to old habits just because it's the only thing you know.
But if you want a cozy singleplayer game, try Subnautica. :))
Only talking about multiplayer games here, as OP mentioned:
QC and and a little chess on chess.com for now.
Stopped playing Hearthstone (more than 1500 wins in that game) and also Clash Royale.
And sometimes watching shroud on Twitch play pubg, but really only watching, not too much into playing campy games myself :-)
I thought about buying Battlefront II. This game has a very impressive graphics, thare are a lot of different transports and machines, great weapons etc. but... I think donation system killed this Battlefront.
Tried to play some QL duel for the first time in yonks, besides the odd sporadic game, and every game went the same:
• !elos at start, moan if I was above (even though I'm dog awful and can barely b2r atm)
• If they die within the first minute, spectate/disconnect/insta-moan
• Moan if you +back at all
Not to mention how few people are even playing.
So, been playing CS:GO and PUBG, with a side of SFV.
I have been playing PUBG for a while now, I mean it's like Battlefield for the mobile users, it is obvious that the graphics and gameplay wouldn't be anywhere near the PC gaming but I think it's great. It's free and compatible for a lot of devices, even if they are 4 years old. I play with my friends and family on my iPad Air which has 1GB of RAM and it works really good.
