Regarding the map pool, ppl have allready gotten quite upset over it. The reason there's only 3 maps in the pool is to make it easier for beginners. Next cup (if I arrange one :)) I promise a larger pool. Or maybe not!

You are comparing average concurrent players vs. total players. Those are totally different things. You are the one making the flawed comparison.

The total amount of players shown in a ladder (QC in-game) is different than the amount of people currently (Steamcharts). Reason is the 2,500 or something people in the duel ladder are not playing all day, but only ever played 10 matches or more. That's the only thing it shows. It doesn't show activity.

In terms of average concurrent players on Steam, QL indeed is more popular than QC. Steamchart does show that. The gap is widening as well. That means if you enter the game, in principle in QL you should find matches faster, since there's more people in the servers.

There's a missing piece of the puzzle though, which is people playing using the Bethesda Launcher. Could be 1, 100 or 1,000: we just can't tell. Only thing is we can speculate is it's not 10,000, provided MM is too slow and unfair to have that many people playing.

In terms of total players, I believe there's no reliable stat showing it, neither for QL or QC. For example Steamspy is unreliable in at least that one stat, because it says it's the exact same amount of players for both games in the last two weeks; and even if working it'd exclude people using the Bethesda Launcher. Or the QC ladder only shows duel players that have ever played 10 matches or more, including those that don't play anymore, and excluding those that don't play duel, or played less than 10 matches using the ranked system.

Also there's another issue, of determining what 'total players is'. I'd say it's in the last 30 days, others would say total that have ever launched the game -including those that don't play anymore-, or others would incorrectly say amount of owners, despite many not ever launching the game.

If we go by "total players" (likely meaning everyone that has launched the application), at least Steamspy says QC has (had) 125,913 ± 11,114, and that QL has (had) 1,397,354 ± 36,978. This really makes the duel ladder pointless and innacurate, doesn't it.

At the end of the day QL surpasses QC in all known stats. Period. Or backwards and in your words most likely, QC is "more dead" than QL.

There's a good reason why QC has been given away for free many times, including the $10 and the $30-$40 versions, and that is the game has not been successful. Even QC's director said we should "stop playing QL" hah.
