We have 2 skills: AIM and positioning

Slower speed-> lower AIM skill ceiling
Slower speed-> higher POSITIONING skill ceiling


But he said: slower speed->higher skill.

He must said: In current patch easier to AIM(for you and your enemy) and harder to POSITIONING (for you and your enemy)


btw, when speed was higher, AIM was harder for BOTH players, and POSITIONING was easier for BOTH players.


But actually, he talking about Champions balance. Anarki vs Galena for example. Ok, let's see Anarki vs Galena now. May be they not differs so much in speed, but what in other indicators? I'm not sure.

I'm confident that champions still not balanced. Hitboxes, stacks, speed, abilities, time for learning each champion differs.

Agent: they removed items control, duels like CA now.

It all depens how much time u spend on game. Qc aint my job. I dont spend the same amount of time as other players in the game and i am still able to beat Anyone in the game. Why even make a comment like that? I like what zoot is doing for qc and i agree with alot of things he says.

Thats actually bullshit. Zoots strengths are his aim and his movement. He plays quite a conservative duel game, too.

rapha plays conservative too and he is a quake genius imo

zoot's movement is good idd, but not top (but I will give u that)
zoot's aim is not bad, but miles away from top

he times pretty well, both in QC and ql (where it was harder) and his decisions aren't bad at all and that is what actually helps him the most to be where he is/was at QC (good timing and decision making... and movement... and anarki, when anarki was OP). What holds him back is the lack of much practice and not having top aim.

Zoot has been super cringy nowadays, constantly trying to diss any criticism of QC just because he got a few pennies from ID lately. It's that childish mantra of "cmon dudezz it's a work in progress / EA / Beta..." + "...when it gets released and we get a lot of new players...". He even banned ppl for mentioning things that suck about QC - and that's a lot of things :)

Zoot is a decent commentator, but I don't like how he blindly defends QC.

Zoot is completely right, and if Iid Software is smart they would focus on potentional new Quake players. If from the 1000 Veterans 500 will drop (or 700) because they cannot make the switch (for whatever reason) thats fine. Let those players play QL.
I am personally enjoying QC very much, i like the abilities, the graphics, the gameplay everything. It's new and refreshing. id Software doens't need those old grumpy vets who know everything better and want a new Q3/QL like game. That doesnt work anymore, anyone who think it does should go out of his mancave and explore the world/internet.

Well, but we all know that every pro: Cooller, Cypher, Base, Agent, Rapha said that there is no item control in QC. Just MH and RA. Also you can't be 100+ with only green armors. No yellow armors. 30 sec or 15 for noobs. Every weapon OP(even MG and NG).

The difference between players skill towards the top is not that huge, if the game does not warrant that precision, the gap between a 8th - 16th finisher at a well attended quake tourney can become next to nothing with QC.

Cooller/Cypher are easy top 6 material in a pure quake game, in QC, they are top 12.
Prize money of worth is only given out for the few, so their jobs just got harder for all the wrong reasons.

Perfectly said. And it's hylarious that this point is always flaunted around in threads dismissing other games as inferior to quake, yet is suddenly forgotten in threads defending quake champions.

The more random and less skill based a game is, the more variability there will be in winners. Look at the joke that is "competitive" hearthstone, a game willingly built about complete randomness: all the best players stopped taking part in tournaments after a couple years. There's always someone new winning something somewhere, and nobody cares or consider him the top player, because it's literally their lucky chance of top and means nothing overall.

Look at quake champions, every tournament a different winner, there's never a real favorite, it's who randomly manages to not be kicked in the balls by luck for longer.

People that would have never won a tournament in quake live now have as much of a chance as the old legends, more actually, because they're less likely to get frustrated by the randomness and lack of balance, and more motivated to win something, for once.

I know, and thats not the pont that i wanted to make. If those former winners say that QC is for noobs and does not require a lot of skill. Why can't they structurally win online and the few offline tournaments? I was not talking about their Quake3/4/QL archievements. Im talking about their critics on QC. And besides that, not only Quake as a series move on. Also the pro's move on, Maybe Raisy and Dooi are our new champs and we the former pro's will never be able to be winners again. Another thing, being good in a game does not directly make you 'the ultimate carrier of wisdom, i mean Rapha has a great understanding about the game and is also a good player. But not all pro's possess that quality.

I really love QC, and i like to see the old pro's play. But i believe, they (the OLD pro's) are not a requirement for this game to be a succes.There are many very popular games that don't have a pro scene. I know this is Quake (e-sports) but if this game will be a success new pro's will be born.

Agreed what zoot said. IDhas to focus to make game noob friendly as possible. They need new players, tons of new players. Veterans will stick around no matter what are changes in Quake. Veterans will always whine. Quake has to be simpler as possible. ID is doing right thing otherwise quake will die and have 350 veterans only worldwide instead of 3.500.000 new players.

tbh quakes skill ceiling was what kept me interested and i'm sure it's like that for other people. the game is only as hard as your opposition too which is where matchmaking comes into it

counterstrike had just small changes from beta to cs:go. Small changes in maps & weapons but its still the same stupid game and still successful

I don't believe a massive champion count adds simplicity to the game. Champions were added to cater different playstyles to make it easier for players with a non quake background to make the transition into QC, thereby rendering the argument of making a game as simple as possible obsolete. I'm fine with champions, but at the same time I don't think beginners are, I think they find the concept of champions confusing and maybe a bit annoying.

tbh I like zoot but he just isn't a great caster or host. I tried watching some matches and would have really liked a mute casters option. Ended up watching a match per day and that's it.

I could think of 20 better that have casted Quake in particular.
