I think side buttons would be really difficult to do as they're attached to the PCB usually. So prob not sorry.

What if it was an 3.0 classic. That one hasn't got soldered switches to the PCB but a cable instead. Might cop one cheap just for the project.

Would there be a way to mod a WMO with something like a 3360 mouse sensor from either a zowie or one of the newer logitechs?

I have one at home, so i'm tempted to trying to mod it and get into this kind of experience.

Yup you could put the logitech g502 into it but it would be a very tricky mod to do. I'm not sure about the newer mice that have come out in the last year and a half but if they're split into two pcbs then they would be possible. If you're really set on the wmo as the shape you want, the easiest route would be making a wmoadder - there's a decent guide on how to do it. No other sensor on the market has anything on it that is tangible to anyone. Only difference is lod and that can be customised to your liking using a strip of tape on the bottom. DA 3.5g sensors are cheap on ebay now so it wouldn't cost you much if you make a mistake. I can take a look for the guide if you're interested.

I've made an io1.1 pcb to suit the ec10e encoder and tindie 3360. it would be trivial to modify it to fit a wmo shell, but would cost ~90 euro for parts. frankenmice are just so damn expensive.

Didn't try that many mouses as others here, but 3.5g is legit the best ever.

My MX310-DA2013 Frankenmouse is sitting in the cupboard, collecting dust, for this reason.

Might sacrifice it to make a MX310 with a 3360 in it. Got a nice, small PCB from a Omen 600 ready for it.

Can't track down any MX310 shells anymore. So this will be my final chance of making the mouse of my dreams. Wish me luck.

Don't ask me about sensors, I dunno. I just had these mice spare and decided to merge them. I also had a Kana v2 but it's PCB didn't seem suitable. Took me about 6 hours to do the mod with all the problem finding and such, so I suggest you try yourself as paying for someone to do it would cost a lot with buying the mice, postage and labor etc.

Plus you get the satisfaction that the mouse is *really* yours.... You created it. Makes you love the ting more than if you bought it somewhere.

Dunno if you ever made something from scratch. An ashtray or a table lol, dunno. But there is a special feeling from owning something you made yourself.

But yeah, if I could just buy the mouse of my dreams, I wouldn't care about having made it myself. :D

As much I really admire dedication and work of people that are making their very own fanknenmouses, tho I wouldn't go that deep and I wouldn't say it's 'making something from the scratch' nor 'you created something that's really yours'. :P
