So if ID were to release some hippie car racing game, with stoner versions of Ranger, Sarge and Mynx, and called it Quake Racers, you'd still love it and support it? And then some card game with infant versions of Quake characters called Quake Gems, would you be debating that this is Quake and we should support it because the future is diversifying the franchise?

You have to be objective about the game itself, not judge based on the label that's on it. Even if we disregard the perception and fanbase, the Quake name is notable because of certain things it stands for compared to every other franchise, certain elements that were the core of each main title in the series which are the reason for its legacy, so it is not wrong to expect the next main Quake game to also have those values.

If QC was a spinoff title like ETQW I think it would've been alright, but it's aiming to be the next big main title in the series while not only diluting the legacy formula but also having a piss poor execution while doing so. There is barely anything to like about this game. They could've called it Quake or Metal Gear or Zelda or whatever other big label, it wouldn't matter if the game was bad. Only fanbois keep parading behind the label, everyone else has no need to show sympathy just because at some point in their life a related game from the past gave them some good times.

When I checked steam forums during qc's free weekend, the place was swarming with *exactly* the same technical pleads for help like bethsoft forums during closed beta.

Plus, their priorities seem to be petty balance changes as if the game just needed a final touch. Thats what 95% of the patches are about.

The worst thing is that you cant even call them amateurs - amateurs lack experience and learn from their mistakes by trial and error. Here, QC and QL have exactly the same handwriting, the same modus operandi of complete nonsense. You could literally do a side-by-side comparison of all the fuckups in these two games and the patterns would match perfectly, in ql's case just replace skins and champions with cvars and CA maps.

The new champ is just more addition to the aimless spam that takes up 80% of QC combat. As a bonus it's extra messy visually. Garbage. Both TDM and FFA is just braindead spam going every direction, hoping something will hit. Only non-spam based mode is the mutilated duelmode, but that sucks as is anyway :)

All the people who are hating on QC behind the scenes in QL or discord are kissing those homosexual bronie-esque unicorn hatwearing devs on the main QC stream without shame. Just to get some attention or viewers on their channels.

They reserve all that frustration and pent-up anger to spew later on to eachother again, but when it comes to actually adressing the stuff to the devs on a LIVESTREAM then everybody acts like a spineless betamale soyboy phag without integrity and pretends QC is seriously the best thing that ever touched the face of the earth.

wish they were there from the start. they would helped a lot more in keeping new players, than all the noobifications they did

New players HATE bots with a passion.

Saw the same thing in pubg mobile, where for the first matches you're put exlusively against bots that then progressively diminish.

Players on forums felt outraged at shooting and killing (or be killed) by a player, only to learn (or just have the doubt and not the comfirmation) that it was only a bot.

And in PUBG mobile bots have super evident behaviours. Much more evident than in quake champions, where frankly many players seem dumber than the dumbest bot.

So no, i don't think they're a positive addition in live matches. Should have kept the quake 3 approach,but somehow the spaghetti code mathcmaker is unable to fill a server with 8 players with a 4000 players playerbase.

Wonder what'llhappen few months from now, with an even smaller playerbase. Half an hour queue times for a 7 bot players ffa server.

bots are great for prac and are well implemented so far.

if it weren't for the bots very few ppl would had stayed even in q3, after they got raped. But when you have finished q3 in nightmare and have invested that much time and think you are good, you don't just quit after getting raped in your first online game. It is too late to back down.

also, 2 of my nephews show me playing ql and when they got home found it and played it, but complained it was too hard and immediately abandon it. Before, few weeks when they had their special promotion for QC, I told to one of my nephews to get QC and he did. Then, after some time he told me that he really liked it and that it rewards aim. He obviously was playing against bots.

many ppl in the forums, were asking for bots too and personally, I love warming up vs bots and they are well implemented, much much better than in ql or q3. evidence to this is that ppl playing vs them, don't realize it. they play human-like and dodge and don't act like retarded dysfunctional robots, like in ql. the bots have still long way to go, but we have to give merit for once to whom developed them.

we don't need to be negative to everything. bots and the maps are well done in QC imo. Maps aren't many and took them ages to make and bots can't use the abilities yet, but are still far better from whatever else they have created.

You've seen nothing yet. In the poverty world it takes about 20 minutes on average to find a FFA match, with 56 ping as the lowest. We just can't practice, and new casual players uninstall without being able to play a single match. The hobby is dead.

The other day I tried to try the new character. 60 minutes in queue, that alone of course because no real life friend plays QC, then opened Overwatch and played with them.

And if you like to play public duel, that doesn't exist: since last year I haven't found a single public match in the SA server. Or if you like to play online or live tournaments, afaik there's been zero in the past six months.

It got to the point of making the hardcore playerbase stop playing. Out of the 6 guys that qualified to Dreamhack Winter, only one kept on playing the game afterwards, and the other five didn't play at all after qualifying because it's practically impossible to do so. The only guys playing are the relatively new competitive players (nosfa for example), because they still have that Quake itch. But give it a year and they'll leave, since there's nothing to play for and not even monks have the patience to endure what I described. With that the server itself will be shut down in SA.

I feel like Quake quit on me more than me quitting Quake haha. And as QC keeps on losing players, this process will start to happen first in NA and then in EU. I've seen this happen: the future of Quakers is either retirement, OW or Fortnite, not Quake. It could take two, three years maybe, but plan ahead.

Quite frankly, id software never cared about Quake like they cared for Doom. If you think back, after Q3A they started giving Quake over to other companies to develop. If that doesn't raise a red flag what does? First Q4 was a mess, Quake Wars wasn't even Quake by any stretch of the manor, Quake Live was a 'web browser' arcade game (how does that look for eSports?), Quake Champions is a MOBA with huge gameflow changes and limited options alongside no server browser. We all know matchmaking sucks ass, why is that even in an old ass game?

No, Quake is dead because they abused the fuck out of it. Don't get me wrong, Quake Live was going in the right direction, but initially it is a bad idea to trade a NEW game engine for some stupid web browser hack. They should care about the community. They don't.

The new character needs a nerf for sure. You can pretty much insta-kill anyone with that ability in close range by just pressing the ability button, and it has a longer range than the toxic spit from Sorlag.

I'm fed up of taking off 90% of stack from my enemy until he decides to press his ability button and insta kill me or make me low enough that I die a few seconds later from burning.

Unlike other abilities like Doom's, BJ's, Scalebearer's, etc. which at least require a tiny bit of aiming or movement, Death Knight only requires to press the ability button once and the job is done.

Nyx requires some skill to do it, and ranger's ability is a lot less random than DK's. Same with Keel, it requires a bit of skill at least to hit those nades and insta kill, unlike DK.

My initial post was about the fact that Death Knight needs a nerf as it's too easy to insta kill as opposed to some other champions which require a minimum of skill to insta kill (aim, movement, whatever else).
