If you have a million plebs taxing the data constantly it will bottleneck the entire user base.

There's not enough bandwidth overall to support all of the users in the UK currently. I know this for a fact, I work for telefonica/o2 and the statistics are pretty staggering. It's unreal to see the data usage increase in the last 6 months.

luckily it was on a corporate contract with several users so in threatening to leave we managed to negotiate it down to £600.

not really, there is british telecom, and there is openreach which takes care of the fibre backbone, it only took 16 years for ofcom to intervene, which is part is down to the government giving old BT £20bn to lay down its fiber

one day, telecom BT will be no more, probably within 10 years, there will only be openreach, which can sell wholesale broadband connections to ISP's with a cheaper line rental, as broadband only lines won't have to pay for the maintenence of the telecom network and satellite fees, which can be the targetted £8 a month with G.FAST

3G on 3 is faster then t-mobile when downloading off steam, 3G has peaked at 2.1MB/s and has a average of 1.8MB/s

still, 3G is holding at 2.2MB/s for the past 2 minutes

Yes it doesn't support tethering cause you'll get taken to a splash page that say the package doesn't allow it, but if you run a usb boot of linux it will work. I still have an actual all you can eat package which is unlimited 3G but I can only use it tethered to a linux boot.

Other than that, fibre is still awesome where I am, so my home broadband still works fine.
