Duel is unplayable

It is playable, but you can't rely on sound alone. If you do you'll get disheartened time after time.

Best way is to treat QC like a joke tbh. If you don't then you will die because of too high blood pressure (sound, instagib, OP abilities, shit spawns, tribolt) etc.

Just try to laugh when you get QC'd...

Sound is bad, colours are worse, if the gameplay's the same then the game must be cursed.

The sound engine sucks, but the sound design is terrible too. All those item spawns/pickups/explosions/ambient sounds melts together in a horrible mess, there's always something going "squiish swash shuuhs" near you and scaring the crap out of you because it could be slash buttscooting on her period blood, a health bubble spawning, the zoom sound, an ability charging up, there's always something going off at any second and it's all distorted and echoing into each other.

I bet the reason for that mess was because it sounded cool on one of the devs hi fi dolby stereo setup, it made the room shake, y'know? That's how you know where a sound system is k-k-koool, there's all that stuff going on and shit, man!

Q3 sound engine was light years ahead and still is. If QC devs think QC sound engine is good and on pro level, than they must be def.

I've seen all the pros point out that they often have no idea where the opponent really is and they're just estimating.

Never seen the pros getting caught with their back turned to the opponets so often in quake live. In fact it almost never happened. Here its the norm

Look at how desperate they are to find a game mode that would semi-consciously fit into their trend following mock-up excuse of a game. The netcode till this day has never been fixed and never will be.

Video performance and memory leaks forever with patch after patch to mask the truth that they are unwilling to go back fix the core of the issue. Perhaps they have tried but the saber are underpaid or unqualified, maybe both? Either way it’s retardedly plain to see that the people in charge favor selling sensationalism over quality. They feel no shame.

As a quake player from the beginning it’s hard to imagine a massively successful quake game to begin with. Carmack is long gone. I’m perfectly happy regardless of the outcome since the community is still there in the old games. I just imagined more from a quake title in 2018. My bad.

I agree. Even on hi-end setup, the sound in QC is just terrible :/

Without a joke, i do not experience any problems with directional sounds. Only times i had that is when i accidentally had my headphones (R/L) switched :(
