The game still has so many bugs... it was made in 2010....

Oh yeah and it is not really a fps. it is basically a shooter on rails with really bad cinematic breaks all the time.

I had to repeat one of the first missions a number of times because my gas masks magically vanished the first moment I really needed them and all sensible previous saves not 1 hour ago were overwritten. because the game only offers auto-save, and it is just the worst.

Afterwards I had the 'Broken glass mask' overlay on my screen infinitely while not even wearing a gas mask. wut.

Then there was this 'mission' where I just ran around for 20 minutes shooting about 1000 aliens with nowhere to go and tried everything, until finally the game out of nowhere decided to trigger the next scene. okay...

The alien 'AI' is just frog animations jumping through you teleporting around you not caring about point blank shotgun hits.
The humanoid 'AI' is bots on crack, headshotting you through paper thin gaps and shit. you cannot escape their 'see-trough-walls' eyes, 0ms reaction time and 100% accuracy, but your weapons seem to hit with the accuracy of a nerf gun.


Conclusion: avoid at all costs.

Ive only played the redux update but I want to give this a try sometime i hope I dont get game breaking bugs but will see what happens.

There are people who said the same as you in steam reviews and a few others who say they prefer this because the updated version has to much console-itis

As for the updated version I think its a better wolfenstien than wolfenstien is just because better gun physics and better atmosphere and world ( its basically S.T.A.L.K.E.R universe I think it has some of the same DEV's also) and I really like stalker games too. The engine also give idtech a run for money (updated)

But as for this version Ill take your word on it for now that its bug ridden mess. I do think it gets better as you get further - less cutscense and more interesting enemies and levels. I remeber that part you mention shooting 1000 aliens (they arent aliens but radioactive mutant shadow people to be correct) and I think it literally is just hold that position for 5 minutes which also had me saying wtf until I passed it myself.

The athmosphere and world is really amazing.
It's one of those games where you imagine how it could have been with better gameplay.

kept me playing for about 4 hours until the bugginess was overwhelming and the newness had worn off.

The biggest gripe I have with the AI. It's just not fun and satisfying to shoot enemies. Everything else is excusable, but this it the main mechanic, which is a huge blunder.
