Firstly, I'd just like to say thanks to every region for supporting both 4Seasons Gaming and the Oceanic scene for the last 8+ years. It's not easy being so segregated from Europe and North America all the time but we made it work with what we had. We always try our best to put on an enjoyable show for everyone. Most people just know me as the guy who runs Australian/New Zealand Quake tournaments but I was a player too :) Thanks to Camma, Fraze, Samityr (qhat) and Ventz for being great team mates as well as giving me the opportunity to play and enjoy Quake Live at a high level. To our Australian/New Zealand community thanks for being apart of the scene and being worthy competitors/contributors. I also would like to thank my two favorite CTF players for inspiration of my fully sick plays, Linkje and Draven.
I hope to see most of you playing and supporting Quake Champions also!
For the video, I've stripped back the rawness of Quake as far as I could get it while still keeping it appealing to outsiders also. The point of the video is not to be impressed by my low LG accuracy or my jumpy frantic movement. It's to enjoy and pay respects to the Quake (3/Live) most of us came from/remember. Hopefully you can all enjoy the journey!
I've made some dot points of subtle moments in the video that can go a long way to improving your own CTF game. For people who play a lot probably already know most of this stuff anyway
[1:17] - I check regen because I know the time and people often like to be there if enemy has quad to gaunt/rocket them from a position where the Quad has little room to utilise the rail/lg quad range in a fight
[2:17] - It's not well shown here and a i botched the jump a little but I RJ'd out of that fight + medkit
[2:44] - Another RJ medkit combo
[2:58] - Calling for a team mate to push out any possible MG damage, lucky enemy chose grens though
[3:02] - Left the flag up on purpose, really great tactic for baiting out a "safe flag room". Often flag carriers will think base is safe if the flag is still up, luring them into a false sense of security
[3:37] - Back pedal to bait out the rail shot, amazed he lived that quad shot
[3:45] - Yes i hit the rail to kill the FC dont know why it looks like a rocket from that angle :(
[3:54] - Always spam that corridor coming back with the flag, 100%! Nothing to lose but a few rocket ammo
[4:27] - Medkit again, also i decide to take teleport exit because i dont want to take the disadvantaged rail gun fight. Although my opponent should have got a teleport rail on me there decides to gauntlet maybe very low hp
[4:46] - I want red so badly ofcourse, but my team mate is in position to attack so i have to just suck it up and go
[5:00] - Rocket jump because 2 mates on the high ground, even if i die here (i was low i believe around 70ish)
[5:16] - Killed myself to respawn with a fresh stack ofcourse
[5:27] - Not sure if mistake or on purpose now, but I overjump the archway to dodge typical rocket spam. Also you can't really see but I'm spamming crouch mid jump to reduce my hitbox
[5:35] - Probably a bit too early but I shoot a rocket there because they just took our flag
[6:06] - I see that the guy with RG on stairs is being patient and not commiting to a rocket vs RG fight there. So I go into flight mode.
[6:10] - You can't really tell, but again i crouch to reduce my hitbox (i was railable there)
[6:20] - Intentional back pedal to YA but lucky rail miss :P
[6:24] - Was not trying to RJ there but spam the corridor. I can't get away here without taking the fight so see what happens

I tried to find a variation of old configs where i liked the look of all guns and struggled. I found this config where i liked the look of all the guns but the LG was missing a texture and settled.

I appreciate that you took the time to make a proper ctf movie instead of just frags that happened to occur on maps with flags. It's nice to see complete plays for a change.
On the other hand, I seriously dislike your config/editing. It really takes away from the movie for me, it's hard to see when you kill someone or who you kill (no notifications), megas are invisible, lg texture is missing, would've been nice to have some hp/armor indicators.
And now to make some comment on actual content. Seeing how this is a fragvid after all, the frags are pretty much average and the runs ain't really exciting, probably cause your rl/lg aim ain't really there. On the other hand, as I mentioned earlier, at least you had the common sense to put whole plays as it is a CTF fragvid, not a bunch of random frags thrown in on maps with flags.

I'm not being disrespective. The point is, how are you supposed to enjoy and pay respects to q3/l by watching something that doesn't showcase it not even close at it's best?
I could've just wrote "1/10 didn't watch", instead wrote what I like and what I dislike about it.

"I also would like to thank my two favorite CTF players for inspiration of my fully sick plays, France Linkje and Netherlands Draven."
There's nothing fully sick here. It's normal caps that happen all the time.
After making the video, there was several things I didn't like or that I changed my mind on later, ie showing who i killed (not necessarily for importance of who it was, but more when a kill happened). The original reason I kept this off was because nobody knows many of the Australian players so it wouldn't mean anything to EU/NA players watching. I also didn't want it to feel like a BRAG or FRAG video, I'm all about the journey. I would have changed stuff but I couldn't find any time or energy in the near future to re-record the clips (with the projects I have on right now).

Never heard of the guy, plays solid. But having to explain clips in order to "help people improve" and the very important personal statement in the end make him appear to be full of shit.
I re-read what he mouse* wrote. He phrased it quite badly, appearing to be disprespectful, but with regards to the content, he didnt actually say anything terrible.
ok wow i didnt know im commiting blasphemy here. I just spoke my mind since its uncommon to explain plays in fragmovies whichl appears condescending and cocky imo. well excuse my ignorance and perhaps hasty + rash judgement. i do like the movie though.
I never heard of you either but I sincerely appreciate that you left this comment. I'm naturally a very hypercritical person which rubs a lot of people the wrong way or can be interpreted as negative/cocky/arrogant. Just know that I am all about self improvement and helping/empowering others to improve/reach their goals etc. Maybe if QC CTF is good we can play some time in EU :)

There was, a while back, a half serious saying that Australian players only go to tournaments (qcon+DH) to make friends. One part of the meaning was that they never reached podium but the other truth in it is that they seemingly always left a great impression as people. I took a dump here on you because I never heard of you and assumed its another cmss, mouse* or zhu who takes himself dellusionally serious. Im offered a friendly match in exchange. There's not much to say except I appreciate kindness and I like to return it even though I not always give it when its due. I do like the movie and if QC should turn out nice: I never turned down a geg and I never will. peace out mate
i always thought a weekly or monthly map pool rotation would be cool on omega...
you could include standard maps like spider, japan and ironworks so that they can be played anytime... but rotate tier 2 and tier 3 maps like courtyard, pillbox, reflux, siberia, troubled waters, infinity etc...
That won't work cause people are programmed to type cv map japs or cp9 just like they will vote dm6/overkill in ca on any lesser known map. But if you take the 'tier2' maps you mentioned and put them in instead of the 3wave maps that NO one wants to play, it might help (but it won't).

we thought about doing a scheduled map pool on the omega many moons ago. If there is more interest in this we can do it no problem. The issue is everyone has different opinion on maps and you find the same people will callvote japan, cp9, courtyard etc..
The servers actually default to pizzaland (q50) and we have spenzer's 2 latest maps which are all really fun to play on but people don't like to try new ones :)
Its a good effort actually, the point was to say farewell not to make a superstar fragviid production imo so most criticism on this thread seems a bit unnecesary.
Haha it's okay people have their own opinions and interpretations it's all good I like to read it actually positive or negative. I stopped playing QL for some time now (occasionally play but am worse now). I think it's important mindset for me to live in the present and this was my closure for 7+ years. I really enjoy the idea of QC just have to wait and see how it turns out in 2018
