I see it working as a distraction quite often. They get shot in the back while fighting the enemy or need to quickly take out the turret while being railed from somewhere else.
The main strenght is in the bug that doesn't allow you to pick up an item if the turret's hitbox overlaps it even partially. So, often you try to drop on the quad or an armor and you first have to break the turret to get it. That's why eisen is almost only played in high level tdm, to armor the pickups, while in random pubs games and every other mode he sucks completely.
The actual firing of the turrett is completely insignificant, often they are left up if they aren't clearly in the way, they're never even gonna hit you if you don't stand still in front of them.
ugh I had it stuck in my head for 2 days straight, then on the third day the metal gods had mercy on me and I woke up and the had enter sandman riff on a loop in my head instead, it was such a fucking relief
