So hyped to play this gametype I havent even played or watched even in real quake + asymetric maps, lada engine, turrets, drones, shields, invisiblity , wallhacks, ruski netcode, while not being able to see anything. Can't wait to explore the new meta with my transgender friends from reddit and QC discord.
I wonder if bethesda thought about engine limitations before using this incredible engine.
Maybe they did but the reason to choose this awesome engine was most likely to save some $$$
Quake on the newest UT engine would kick ass!
Please, dont call this piece of monstrous shit CTF, its so fucking simple worse than simple i have no words for it... i cant believe this took 2 years for them to create, has no depth in it at all, has no maps, has nothing !!! im finally so disgusted by this game that i can uninstall it forever and ever. Best regards Makie
Why the fuck they always do the opposite of what players want?
In testing alternative explanations for the cognitive bias of illusory superiority, the study ..................reached the same conclusions as previous studies of the Dunning–Kruger effect: that, in contrast to high performers, "poor performers do not learn from feedback suggesting a need to improve"
it's tolerable on citadel aka the only almost-symmetrical map in the game. i'm actually quite intrigued by it and how to parry cpm champs with vql ones. will be puttin in hours in days to come, no doubt.
on the other hand, each time you don't end up playing ctf on citadel it's absolute dog shit and whoever decided it'd be cool just to slap flags on tdm maps should get fired and hanged.
it's amazing how low-key the general reaction is to them being clueless enough to premiere the much anticipated CTF mode with something as absurd as just using existing TDM maps... just goes to show how accustomed we have become to their mediocrity and lack of anything even remotely resembling a plan for Quake for the last 5 years.
unless that acclimatization was itself their end goal all along... then it's ABSOLUTE VICTORY. wp sync.
They most likely bought rights/licenses to use them in QL, not to use the designs at will for any other game. It means getting in touch with some people to get new licenses, however, there were rumors on q3w last(?) year that g1zm0 (q3wcp1) has passed away.
With the manpower they have, it seems to take them months to produce a single map. Did you really expect CTF to come with a decent number of maps dedicated to a single mode? :D
In the Sacrifice days, it was obvious the mode was designed with map reuse in mind. Even the new CTF, with swapping sides half way, is built on the same principle.
It's probably taking them too many man-hours to produce maps to their standards of prettiness. There's a lot of decoration on these maps, and the new maps are being tested on the PTS without any of that in the map yet.
I think it might be necessary to just flat out ban champions which are anti-Quake like Visor (Wallhack), Eisen (Turret), Clutch (Shield), Nyx (Invis), etc.

I think this would be the most accurate review of ctf so far:
> Both teams pick an Anarki
> Both teams pick 3 random champs
> Both teams wait for 20 minutes to see whose Anarki will cap more
> All players type 'gg' after 20 minutes to pretend they participated in the game
CTF is cool and all, but people in pub TDM matches can't coordinate to attack a static powerup. can't imagine tracking a flag carrier around the map will be a compelling experience..
ultimately I'll stick to TDM/arcade modes since even with a crap team you can have your mindless fun
just wait for them to make some more dedicated maps, then buy a new pc to actually run those. i am having a lot of fun, still learning a lot with most of the champs. most importantly: the first time I have fun playing promode movement other than dm6 vampiric arena :)
