the bug you're talking about is that if enemy puts a turret on a item spawn point then you cant pick up the item? i think i saw cooller on awoken trying to pickup quad, he stepped on it like two times and didnt pick it up, then started shooting it. Then rapha came in, killed cooller and took quad for himself. Didn't realise that was intentional from liquid. Yet, i dont really follow QC, so i was surprised by that situation and my first thought was that it bugged out :D

its a bug (that either was intentionally left when they introduced eisen because they liked the possibilities it opens up or was too incompetent to fix) and teams have been abusing that heavily. But it is something that goes against the fundamentals of quake in my opinion but I am out of fucks I give about QC.

They've mentioned in a dev stream before Eisen was added that sentry was similar to the one in Team Fortress 2 but a lot less dangerous. Anyone playing both games can see that they've shamelessly copied the idea from there (i mean, they're not even denying it).

Placing a sentry or any other building in TF2 on a item spawn point will block pickup. Has been that way since 2007 and that is not considered a bug.

It's a big collision box preventing other collision entities (player models) from reaching the item. I'd say it's working like it's supposed to.

The two turrets are actually completely different.

Tf2's has a long active setup required, it's quite frail even fully built, but extremely reactive and lethal.

Quak's requires 0 setup, is quite sturdy but completely harmless and dumb.

If anything, quak's turrets is a carbon copy of Overwatch's Torbjorn's turret, just very much dumber and slower.

Also this is not a case of a hitbox engulfing another one, that wouldn't be considered a bug.

This is the case that the turret's hitbox can touch one pixel of the item's corner, and you can walk inside the powerup/item but you won't absorb it. It's like just touching one atom of it turns off its ability to be interacted with.

The effect of covering spawn point and preventing pickup is the same which is the main point i'm making (i'm aware the rest of the differences and similarities between the two..they're not really relevant to the topic).

I do not see how it is a bug. It is not a coincidence that yourself and teammate can get an item that a friendly turret is on top of, but your enemy cannot. They have to kill the turret first and can't just walk through it.

Is it a bug when walking into an enemy totem does damage to you, but you can walk right through a friendly totem? I feel like it would be even more strange if you could walk straight through an enemy turret.

Regardless, teams could have banned Eisen and it was in practice for weeks upon weeks prior to the tournament. This was not unexpected.

If you do not like the mechanics of the champion, that is completely separate from whether it is a bug or not.

1) totems work exactly as intended
2) if you are physically blocked by turret from touching item you can't pick up it – nobody complains about it
3) if your are touching item but still can't pick up it because enemy turret somehow touching it too – it is obviously a bug
4) such behaviour of turret was not well known at least to tox and cooller, so it was unexpected to them and you abused it!
5) your victory is dirty and undeserved!

By logic, the event of being "fooled" could only have happened ONE SINGLE TIME, after which it will be obvious and learned that yes, turrets touching items block their pickup.
So that's a 1 map, 1 item situation. Hardly changing the outcome of best of three finals.

How would a team know the insight of their opponents to such details? They can't know.
Going a little deeper, It would be downright stupid to find out something like that and not use it because 'it could be possible the opponent does not know', only to then see yourself on the receiving end of said finding. Calling it abuse and dirty isn't giving the situation justice.

A better example would be, if you find spots on a map where explosives do not do damage (as was/is the case with many QL/QC maps) do you purposely not stand on that spot because the enemy possibly does not know about it?

How can a player discern if this is intended or not? Only posibility I can think of is talking to the developers first, but they wouldn't have the time for a hotfix anyways. Only fair gesture would be to tell everyone about this finding, but again, you don't know if opponents wiill do the same, or rather have some other things up their sleeve they are not telling you about - prisoner's dilemma

Na, it's smarts. The same goes to fighters who keep a track of their enemies and if they've injured themselves in the last few months in case a bout comes up, so now they know they can target those weak points to assure a better chance at victory.

I suppose this year's 2v2 answered the question about which is stronger - rapha's ability to win or dahang's ability to choke finals.

And here's the answer for all the butthole lickers that defended bethesda: they patched it up, meaning it was an unintentional bug.

I was wondering how long it would take someone to point that out.

It was fixed in the PTS patch on the 17th of December.
