not really fresh content ideas but:

- fix frontpage news cache bug
- add santa hat to banner during xmas (crescent during ramadan)
- sidebox with random embedded fragmovie
- more betting fixtures during events
- something to spend E$ on (bring back the old ticker message system?)
- fix bug showing inaccurate number of users online
- make iMsgs last longer than 7 days
- adjust movie posting process so it doesn't require a master's degree
- do people use the Articles/Columns/Latest Demos boxes at top of frontpage anymore? could probably be used for something else, something along the lines of random embedded fragmovie or relevant to upcoming/actual events
- integrate with #tdmpickup bot to show [7/8] in a sidebox
- other than that, general site structure, layout and design has aged well imo, doesn't really need changing and there are many alternative CSS themes available


- give p0rt full admin rights for Hardware subforum

I can safely say most people around here would rather take a donkey dick up their ass than see anything celebrating islam. Especially for a month.

When Islam can go a day without their prophet inspiring 1000's to rape, beat a wife, kill, throw a homo off a roof and justify it by being "muslim", then we can talk.

Until then, I think any celebration of a prophet (or anything) which is used to inspire some of the biggest dredges of mankind to act like a complete animals should not be encouraged.

The only good thing about ramadan is less animals are killed in inhumane methods that month.

You should only celebrate things which bring joy and happiness to others at no expense to others.

ESR should not be bound by political or religious leanings anyone whose hung up on those whose prepared to skewer and stifle counter debate should not be an admin.

Meh its hard, the site is always based around quake community really, if things are quieter or whatever then that just reflects the scene.

Quake is a dying game, but it will always have enough people to warrant a forum, if that's all ESR becomes then so be it.

my general suggestions for esr:

reduce the volume of website ambient sounds by half for a more enjoyable browsing experience

website response time changed from 10ms to 10.00ms

font size reduced from 14 to 13.998

size of profile flags increased to 150x150 then decreased back to original size

one problem i found always was the fact that you take it for granted that everyone knows what is going on. for example you go to public servers these days and half the people don't know proper gameplay mechanics or rulesets and whatnot. so esreality just wants the pros and the knowitalls to come here but leaves the noobs out. this is what you get, dead site.

Since I see these old threads coming up from time to time anyway, how about a "on this day X years ago" thread-revival feature? :D

The site itself is that feature these days.

I think it would be great to have some kind of visual indicator of active tdm/ctf pickups and active duel monitoring, just to provide an indicator that the community isn't as 'dead' as people here like to constantly spout. It would also be a positive influence for getting more people 'in game'. For noobs and old veterans alike.

Haha same. I used to play through quake 3 on nightmare all the time in highschool and raped people on lan at school too. Then I try QL for the first time in 2009 and found I was a noob and didnt even know how to strafe jump and got rekt every game. Wow I just realised ive been playing QL for 10 years wtf.

Don't know if this has been discussed before but some sort of ladder system for organizing cups and leagues would be nice. I also think ESR should get it's own twitch account for streaming content, the account could be used by site admins and trusted users who apply to use the account to cover a variety of content interesting to the user base, by that I mean Quake in general but also other aspects of gaming and e-sports.

Finally! A channel where even the most grime covered quake player can be a star.
