I've been getting into cooking a lot more recently and I've been trying a lot of new things. Any good cooks up in this bitch? if so what are some of your favourite meals and recipes if you care to share them.
I haven't tried a lot of Iranian food but I'm half arab though and I know some dishes overlap. Bamyeh is one of them aka fried okra in a tomato sauce and is delish if you haven't tried it. That first recipe looks insane, going to probably give that a go.
Tuna steak with thyme and rosemary seasoned potatao wedges, paprika/star anis /charlotte onion/ Grand Marnier sause. Tuna might be hard to find/expensive so could be traded for swordfish but it's propably the same price/ avaiability, salmon will work in this dish but nit as good.
Glhf, cooking is fun
I know a great soup of common mushrooms, shitloads of wine/ cream and butter and that's basically it, black pepper, onions, garlic for seasoning
My favorite cooking is from the oven, retains the flavours the best. I don't actually own one so I make simple dishes like soups, salads and some rice dishes.

Love sushi, it's my favourite way to eat seafood besides a couple of exceptions. There's a wholesale fish market near me called Billingsgate which I keep meaning to go to so I can buy some at good prices. I've been afraid to go though because it seems a bit intimidating since I really don't know shit about fish.
Start out with easy to cook fish like salmon? Or if you own a deep fryer perhaps some cod-like fish and make your own fish and chips? You should be able to find good batter recipes quite easily. Scallops!!! Buy scallops, fry them in a pan medium temp loads of butter, not too long or they'll get rubbery. Scallops are sooo good, serve as starter as is or with fresh pasta and some white sauce, could even end the frying by flambeing them with a little pastis if you have any laying around but any liqorice booz would propably do tbh...
i make the best placki ziemniaczane in the worldpoland ok nvm but my mama said they are better than her's so thats an achievment (but now every friday its up to me to make them so idk if i won or lost u know cooking aint my thing i mean i like to do it i really do enjoy it but id rather waste my time on something else like idk playing dead games)
babushka's recipe i can give u if u wanna. Main component is potato, u can feed whole family with it, its cheap, easy and fast to make (its pancakes kind of so more u make more time needed but more time = more yum yum and u can leave some for later too) and you can eat it with other components like yogurt for example or nothing at all, some braindead fuckheads like to eat it with sugar (potato and sugar can u fkin imagine ppl are weird my aunt for example liked to make sandwich with cheese and cucumber and she put mustard on top like wtf, i guess thats why she aint family anymore, or maybe its because she cheated on my uncle maybe that was the main reason but cucumber with mustard should be good enough red flag for him anyways idk what he was thinking)
Good as an addition to some other meal like baked beans too. I like it.
oh and i got a recipe for the best breakfast ever which is scrambled eggs (but these has to be top quality, i get mine straight from babushka's farm u can still smell chickens ass if sniff it y know not like these cleaned up white eggs from market that taste like autistic embryo, you need some healthy embryo to get that good taste), spinach, onion and some sausage (or not if u dont eat meat i sometimes dont so its all good without it). So u mix all the shit like always, fry it with butter and damn that will be good. And some fresh tomatoes to it. Fat heavy meal tho so dont eat it too often or you will be fat, myself i was eating it almost every breakfast for 2 months but i was on keto diet so that was good to me.
cheese smells like a dirty feet after 12h work shift. expensive ones? u mean the broken ones with that green blyats around? moldy cheese aye? disgusting, like a smelly feet with gangrene
In fact the sole reason why I qualified to DH Winter despite being horrible at duel was that I played a bunch of QC at release date, because I endured the long queuing times by cooking and doing the dishes. I placed the PC desk in front of the kitchen for that purpose.
And yes, I prefer to do the dishes rather than using the dishwasher. I find it relaxing.
The sole reason I dont cook is the fear of washing dishes (even though I do have a dishwasher, but I find that does not often clean to my expectation unless I rinse stuff before putting in it), props to this man!
Sometimes I forget how privileged I am and that things I take for granted, other don't have. Then it becomes quite surprising to read that some people don't even have a dishwasher or an oven.
Most of the stuff I cook doesn't even have a common name or an underlying generally known recipe, just some random stuff I mixed together and experimented with in order to optimise it in terms of ingredient-proportions.
The philosophy behind it, is that the worst thing you can do is to eat the same stuff over and over again 24/7, while the best scenario for your body is to absorb as many different nutrients as possible by eating as variable as possible. You wrote about trying new things, that is the whole key.
