Yeah I'm fitting to play some quakelive today and tomororw. i'm gonna bring back the game to live. the game is just dead without me.

I actually dismantled my gaming computer for a few months. I thought I would quit since I was working. Turns out I got to play some games once in a while to restore my sanity. I went and got a gtx 1070 ti black edition and it's a pretty solid card. I'm not advertising though but that's what I got in my rig. Well, I bought a 1070 and also 1080 ti. the 1080 is still in a box. I wonder how long of a shelf life it has. I wonder if i could store it in my closet and not use it for a few years and still be good.

It's worse than that. FFA is 16 people on tiny maps with modified ruleset spawning with all the weapons. Variations include vampirc damage and augmented health. Because apparently normal ffa isn't enough CA-like.

Seriously, 80% of the severs use retarded maps/rulesets. Even call of duty looks like a reasonable game compared to that crap.

The problem is that ql in particular seems to attract the biggest retards and dickheads in the entire gaming community.

The same retards spawning 16 people ffa servers on ztn are 40 years old and spam varios forums pretending they're smarter than average because they're playing quake.

Gaming in general is full of retards. Give them too much power and you will end up with retardation. The retardation scares off all non-retards, and that's why what you end up with looks like it is composed disproportionately of retards. :P

I wouldn't call the remaining quake players "retards" because they're just humans like you and I. In fact, I believe some of these "retards" just need a good outlet and quake serves them well. From my experience, I found that most quake players are into programming/computer science so they tend to be non-conformists and stick to the old regimen. In fact, there are less trolls in quake than any other game. The remaining quake community is probably the most mature gaming community compared to CS:GO, overwatch, pubg. I believe megatroll will change into a better person in time. Give that kid a few years.

maybe others would be more productive if they cut gaming out of their lives, maybe they'd spend it thinking of a new business idea or learning some useful skill. but not everyone is at the point where it crosses over into obsession and hurts their other aspects.

in most cases, people entertain themselves with games the same way they do with checking social media, watching tv shows, or drinking/using drugs. they do it when the productive hours of the day are over and now they want to have fun. give yourself some credit, please!

minqlx is hot garbage and you should be ashamed for promoting this elo based crap for a dead game.

Minqlx is a server mod that allows scripts to run. Supporting elo swapping and limiting players to join is just another script the server owner can add if he wants. It is not part of minqlx.

So I found West coast california servers are just dead. So I'm playing mostly in east coast servers with 90 ping. Eh whatever. I'm still getting top frag and top dmg most games.

I just came back after ~2yrs break. occasionally play a few rounds of ffa and it's great fun. let's not get started about ctf though - kindergarden, with shuffle spam, whine, and ragequits. don't have time for that bs, no wonder that community killed itself.

I see you lurk in the server, imo it's not that bad though, and all things considered ctf is still the best thing ql has to offer.

it seems impossible to get a slot unless you're there from the start, waiting for it to fill. cba with that anymore, different life priorities. I enjoy ffa the most and I can log on, play a few, log off, at any time. but hey, to each their own.
managed to play like 2 ctf matches so far and it was an utterly awful experience. maybe just unlucky but I doubt it - considering past experience before I quit, I would assume it's pretty bad more often than not. :)

Yeah, getting a slot is hard unless you get there early :( It's usually pleasant playing ctf, most players know each other pretty well and take it for what it is, sometimes there are a couple of tryhards who takes shuffleing to a new level :)

There already is one at quakenet, #ctfpickup, no one use it, we created one pickup channel in our discord server, no one use that either.

FFA pubs and TDM pickups / matches is where it's at.

In Europe a&d is more popular than ctf. Just go https://qlstats.net see "Most Active Servers" table. Switch between to A&D and CTF you will see number of games played.

QC is losing its playerbase pretty fast, hopefully those players redistribute to QL and/or Diabotical.

QC is a waste of time.

No one learned to be a good player or to understand how to play QL, so they just stayed in the CA gametype which is the last chance of the unfit fucking noobs and that's where the few retards still play, and then the game died.
