Lolol, I was playing on ping 3 and it was bad, just bad.

I went to play eu server ping 40, and my crosshair lagged so much, that I could not lg the standing on spot target.
It happened few times for sure.

Tbh, even if I ignore all the important stuff like netcode and fps drops..the game is ugly as shit. It seems like every map they just threw all the textures in a random number generator and just dropped them on a clear surface producing visuals of the inside of a dumpster. Who makes these games for fuck's sake.

If I turn the detail up, I really don't find it that ugly.

But if visual aesthetics were a concern, people wouldn't play QL either (even QC has double its player count). Now that's one ugly game IMO, especially the HUD, which looks tacky and cheap. I have a hard time watching a stream of it for any length of time unless it's some high level gameplay, which is probably why virtually no one on Earth watches it. The game is definitely more garish than QC---even the player names are rainbow coloured. Everything before Quake 3 had more atmosphere, and that's probably due to the lack of a single player in Q3.

Of course, it's subjective. Some will say they like it. But I reckon that's mostly nostalgia. I'll bet someone with no experience in these games won't be in a hurry to hang screenshots of QL on their wall. :D

I doubt many people are finding the vomit-looking textures produced by picmiping attractive, together with bright fluoro-green enemies, unless they grew attached to them through many years of associating them with a good time---after they were literally forced to use them to remain competitive.

So I think the aesthetics of QC would be the last thing I'd complain about. I'm certainly glad it is not another game using cartoon graphics. Take a look. The real good players are still hitting hard without all those visibility crutches.

Now sound, that's another matter. QC sound is atrocious.

Most games don't let you do much with the HUD. I'd say it is a pretty low priority feature. QC needs maps.

QC does not need maps. (well it needs, to remove bad maps, as the only one ok map is AWOKEN).

QC needs a proper engine with proper features, where people could create maps.

Best q4 maps were created by Luk1n, somewhere in 2010.
Q4 maps made by idsoft are utter garbage, not fun, and nobody plays it.


It is same as design and architecture, how many morons there are and how many talented people.

So yeah, you can get new maps and what, they will be like another lockbox trash shit.

So QC needs more good maps.

The more maps they make, the more chances of there being a good one, like Awoken.

Actually I'm not a fan of the duel maps being used in 8-player modes.

And I doubt we'll ever have community maps.

Its actually not bad as it is packed with action.
The game is slow already and making big maps does not make sense.

I like structure to my game, not just chaos and reacting to whatever appears. It's the same reason I never liked shit like 8v8 CA.

Idk, when you play alot you realize big maps are just boring, even molten falls is boring.

Also when you hit 70% LG ingame your opponents die so fast, that you need several at once to have any fun.

Awoken is still a big map and it will take how long? without cpma movement to run whole circle on it?

Q4 duel maps are much faster than awoken.


Awoken is mediocre map compared to monsoon, but it is okay to play on.

But campgrounds, burials, lockbox and ruins of sarnath is just shit map, I usually quit when I see them in lobby.

Blood run also garbage but I play it sometimes.

Best quake maps will come in 2020, and I might make them myself.

Because people dont have a fucking a brain or understanding of quake mechanics and they cant make a good map with maximum gameplay fun and difficulty.

i expected nothing ever since quake live launched in 2009 and we waited years for ztn to be added, the quake team is made up of wannabees who praise past id games, but have no skills to repeat that success because the market has moved on from arena fps.
