Day 2 of the 2019 QuakeCon Duel Tournament saw a little bit of chaos, with freezes, some maps had to be restarted, servers had to be reboot ... but out of it still came an incredible day full of tense matches, upsets, comebacks, etc ...
This possibility of showing all matches from all POVs has only just arrived, that it will already be sorely missed if it's absent from future tournaments.
What contributes to the excitement, is of course the format. A round robin with 10 matches happening at the same time, and all of them being of great importance. They are what determine what your ranking in the tournament will be, give or take 1 place, as Sunday matches will not be a bracket, but prize matches.
Unlike normal group stages, players here can't afford to lose matches and hope to peak later, they need to be at 100% all the time. And the tension is palpable.
After two long days, and a total of 13 matches played for each player, the standings are:
What becomes apparent from these standings, is that unless things go wrong, six players will be battling for the well coveted top 2 spots of the round robin, giving access to the Grand Final and a shot at being the QuakeCon 2019 champion :
Cooller will be playing against Xron, Nosfa, Whaz, Cha1n, Br1ck and Dramis
Xron will be playing against Cooller, Av3k, K1llsen, Dahang, Spart1e and Vengeur
K1llsen will be playing against Base, Garpy, Xron, Nosfa, Whaz and Cha1n
Rapha will be playing against Nosfa, Whaz, Cha1n, Br1ck, Dramis, Effortless
Vengeur will be playing against Raisy, Toxjq, Psygib, Base, Garpy and Xron
Raisy will be playing against Vengeur, Sib, Toxjq, Psygib, Base and Garpy
We can predict that Rapha will be a heavy favorite for all his matches, but he stands 1 win behind Cooller/Xron/K1llsen, so he must hope that at least two of them will lose one match. It is a guarantee that at least 1 of them will lose a match, as Cooller and Xron will face off, as well as K1llsen and Xron. It also means that Cooller, Xron and K1llsen have their fate in their hands, each of them can try to win all their matches and will be guaranteed to reach the final.
Other than Cooller vs Xron (09:00 CST) and K1llsen vs Xron (12:00 CST), another match to look forward to is Raisy vs Vengeur (09:00 CST), who right off the bat will face off to determine which of them will stay on track and keep their chances to reach the top 2. There are many more matches that will be interesting, too many to mention them all.
