Correct, sometimes you get splash damage instead of direct hit.
Same happens to plasma, you will get a plasma wall mark off your opponents body when this happens (start paying attention - it happens in almost every long plasma fight :)).
Nades can bounce off the body of your opponent too.
This started in December 2010 and still isn't fixed till this day, I think that's the worst bug in QL currently (and top of the list for a long time now).
first and last shots in this video
(one of the first vids i ever tried to make, lolrocketwhoring + recording live with fraps derp derp) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3pvRH0DIBPQ
also, from the same video: long range triple face, non air shot.
I've got a few triplet and quadruplet demos that I've been meaning to extract for a while now... what's the most efficient way to get a movie from a demo? I'm a total noob at this.
Thanks, what I mean was just "clips" instead of what is generally understood as a movie. By movie I just mean movie file. I'll try QLDT+FRAPS whenever I find the energy.
The ones I've posted we're done with wolfcam and dxtory. I have more on my YouTube channel from qldt and fraps and qldt with dxtory. Qldt is much easier to find frags but lacks the capability of rewinding, which wolfcam can do. Qldt also uses your auto exec from quake live by logging in and pulling it from the site, but it doesn't allow post processing in playback. Just some thoughts for your consideration.
dunno, don't have much rocketry on video and generally don't try to get fancy with it anyway, maybe this one if only because it was on 160 ping but still not a very impressive frag to look at or anything
just saying that it's all up to players in general play style rather than ql CA itself. hitting rails do become easier than q3 though, but even 100% rails are nothing when you have to deal with several rl/lgs running towards you from various directions. if someone tended to +back to preserve himself, both sides would shit him badly.
Just look for exclusively high elo populated servers at night (or me :P). It's even easier to get a +forward game in 3v3.
I always find it funny how on typical server my main tactics in later phase of the round is to rush directly. Almost everyone gets caught off guard by this.
word. people tend to slow down later in the round and it keeps the pace of ca slow. if you start hauling ass around the map when people expect you to +back rail, people give up frags.
nope, pretty old, own-age had it once, but all links are dead, only if someone still has it, otherwise lost forever. I had alot of frag movies back in the day of that movie, but deleted them thinking the internet is forever.. learned from that mistake the hard way :(
Some of my favourite ones are the ridiculous long range single spam/prediction shots that just happen to direct hit them after traveling across 3/4 of the map. Sure, it's usually luck, but it always gets a laugh.
