From the OSP docs:

color1 <RHSL> (default = 0000 (White))
Specifies the various color options for yourself (and teammates),
if using a "pm" skin for a default Q3 model:
R = rail-core color (this is for all models/skins)
H = head/helmet color
S = shirt color
L = legs color

color2 <char> (default = 0)
Specifies the rail disc/swirl color.

So \color1 1000 should produce red rails, for example.

ok, when i watch a game (recording/demo) the rail color still doesnt change. i did alredy try all this. thats what i originaly meant, how do i fix that?

color1 will only work when you're playing. It doesn't change the rail colour in a demo.

The demo records whatever rail colour the player had set at the time of the recording, and when you play the demo back, the game will show that colour. If the player changed rail colour during demo recording, you'll see those changes when playing it back.

I don't know of any way to override the demo rail colour in OSP.
It can be done in Q3MME, which I'm no expert in using, but I tested it quickly, and I could override the rail colour of the demo with

\clientOverride player c1 5

5 making the rail purple.

thanks again! im a 100 percent sure i was able to watch these games with a different rail color, and with the cfg/way i play q3. maybe i ran them in baseq3 with an appropriate cfg, but i also remember goin thru OSP first and running it especially. i dunno what q3mme is but ill search for it. would i be able to run it with my exact cfg?

Q3MME is "Quake 3 Moviemaker's Edition". It's a mod of Q3 for making movies. Lots of popular frag movies were made using it. Naturally, it allows you to customize the look of things, so it has settings for overriding things like the rail colour. It should work with your config, but it has more commands that you probably would need to play around with to get it how you like it. As I said before, I'm not an expert on how to use it. :D

i havent found a list of basic cmds yet either and not even sure what the cmd is called so i can search for it. why the fuckin fuck is it asking me to be a fuckin programmer to watch a q3 game

so those links look useful, and hopefully are complete but q3mme is not following these commands is my point. it does not change the enemymodel even tho ive specified the proper cmd values. same with simple shit like the bob and screen shake when getting hit. theyre not turning off and i dont have a single q3config in my entire q3 folder with different commands so i dont even know where its getting its settings

In your Q3 folder, there will be a folder "mme", which will contain a file cmds.txt, which gives you a list of commands for q3mme.

I think you probably need the clientOverride command.
I mentioned earlier how to use it for rail colour.

As another example, this should change enemy model:

\clientOverride enemy model keel/default

I'm also starting q3mme with "start q3mme.cmd" if that helps.
