For gaming? LG 27GK750F-B. Its not curved, no shaders and other bullshit, just plain and simple 240hz gaming monitor for a good price.
Even if you decide to go for something else, I'd stick to LG as they have best colors among TN.

Depends on a game, some games have very noticeable tearing and sync actually does fix it.

Pubg with freesync/gsync feels like going from 60hz to 144hz.
Without sync it feels like it lags almost the whole time.

I've never found anyone as correct as you on the internet about horrible inverse ghosting and too aggressive overdrive on BenQ/ZOWIE monitors. I need to give them credit because their marketing team is really good at selling this thing to the plebs as the best monitor but anyone who has even half a brain can tell that the colours and overly aggro OD is literally retarded (not to mention backlight bleeding). I had to return four different BenQ's and get them refunded- dispute with their customer support before I realized people have no idea what they are talking about and honestly it was very frustrating.

The ASUS ROG and all the BenQ XL line are one huge scam. Everyone who buys it is getting ripped off or a complete fucking idiot.

I've been playing quake/shooters at 120hz for so long and i have a hard time believing the difference between 120 and 240 will even be noticeble for me.
I'm considering it for sure but right now i'm leaning more towards 144hz 1440p to be honest.

Well, difference between 120-240 are really noticeable. I think it would be noticeable up to ~500Hz+ with 0.5ms- pixel response time.
480Hz+ would be released ~in 2021-2022. Still TN ofc.
But... that's just if you want to break all the technical limits and play the best you can.
That's not the best way of playing games, especially if you want to play 4fun/some non-competitive games.

But.. that monitor make me say WOW. That ultra low input lag feels like you are moving crosshair actually with your hand. Awesome feeling.

Panels with higher resolutions would be always slower, just physically. But I think we would get some good 1440p monitor in ~few months.

Thank you, you made me rethink, after alot of research and comparing reviews i decided to not go with the 1440p but instead i went with the Acer XF252Q as you suggested.

Military tests showed fighter pilots were able to distinguish individual frames in up to 300 frames per second video streams. And that's not even taking into consideration moving the fov around or muscle memory, so yes there's probably marginal profit up to 400-500 hz.

I can give a [+] to everyone recommending LG. They seem to have good quality control and the colours usually look decent even on their TN panels. Anyone suggesting BenQ or ASUS needs to be lobotomized.

Why no 144hz 1440p at 24inch?

The last feq years have been pretty dull when it comes to gaming displays. TVs and monitors. OLED is nowhere near ready for the desktop so we've been stuck with crappy LCD in all its forms.

I had to swap my old 120 Hz Benq (upgrading to a 5700 which lacks dvi, monitor doesn't have DP...) for a cheap 144Hz VA panel from Acer. It get's the job done but it's not much of an upgrade. Colors are only slightly better but TN is just better. It's a fact of life.

The hdmi 2.1 race might bring some improvements for everyone down the line but I wouldn't be holding my breath for reasonably priced good high refresh 4k monitors

I am rolling Asus VG279Q 144Hz. Apart from the low DPI (1080p on 27 inch) for reading, everything else is an big upgrade over my old samsung 2233rz 120Hz. The low DPI is not an issue or noticeable in games. 1440p would be nice, but 1440p 144Hz 27 inch monitors costs literally twice.
