But will a 3900x have micro stuttering? its not a matter of performance, I think there is something wrong with QL's coding. In Q3 i never have those. I can get 125 fps in QL, there's just something wrong somewhere. Either the GPU or the CPU + QL dont like each other.

I don't have that problem with Ryzen. If you still have micro stutters after an upgrade, it almost certainly isn't because of the CPU.

Check the bios or power settings in your bios, make sure shit like Speedstep is disabled and other such options which look like it might be scaling the CPU's clock speed.

Put them on manual or lock them so its delivering a consistent load.

It's worth mentioning the stutters you describe could be a result of many things, including software like antivirus and such.

In any case, it's time to upgrade. It's likely that a raspberry pi 4 is on par with that q6600. I kept my 2500k for 8.5 years sandy bridge is not c2q heh. You sure you're not a hoarder?

I gave up on waiting for a reasonably priced and available 3900 and got a couple of 3700x instead. They're pretty sweet

Check com_idleSleep, should be 0. I had issues on 9600K with this set to 1.

Even ryzen 1600 is smooth as a silk in ql/qc. As said tho, microstutters can come from a lot of things.

dont use windows activators, most likely they infect pc with all kinds of things that will cause stuttering.

i use linux but win10 basically just has a watermark, no need to use cracks or keygens if you are not bothered by it.

idk i mean i would use win10 from time to time if i need to check out new games, but linux is pretty awesome tbh, even with all of the quirks that come with using it.

Just to confirm a 3900x is a 12 core CPU, the 3700x/3800x are both 8 core, there shouldn't be any problems running QL with a steady 250fps, side note; I have a whole new build coming in soon with a 3700x.

ive heard 250fps drops sounds so i may stick to 125fps... this sucked to learn, i was pumped to finally have stable 250fps but not at th price of dropping sounds

QL is a very old game only thing you have going for it is running Windows compatibility to Windows 7, and hope to god that you dont get frame drops.

Ryzen owners should set their energy saving plan to "Maximum Power", or manually set minimum processor speed to 100% in the advanced options. The integrated regulation circuits in Ryzen tend to change clocks manically when set to anything less than 100% in Windows, which can indeed cause performance to fluctuate. Changing these settings also ironically has no effect on measured power consumption.
