Ok so I just get into police station, access the computer and the game goes into some kind of FMV mode now I am trapped in it.

Even if I load my save file before it I all I see is a black screen with the game going on in the background.

yep seems to break every time I access the video screens.

Strange, never came across that before and I've had multiple playthroughs.

The only issue I came across when I played it was the game lagged to fuck especially the fmv cutscenes, but it turned out that I didn't update my Windows Updates for years so a lot of the stuff was out of date and fucked with it.

Check the issue in steam discussions, I'm sure someone has come across it before.

Also, sounds random, but try playing in windowed mode.

If the FMV stuff is fucking with you, there's a direct x / Windows Media Player update that I'm fairly sure you have to download, check steam discussions.

Ok found a fix online...

Go to Resident Evil 2 folder.
Find "re2_config.ini"
Change "UseVendorExtention=Enable"
To
"UseVendorExtention=Disable"

Worked straight after the change. But seriously!

Btw I don't know what difficulty you're playing on, but for your own sanity, stick to normal because the hardest difficulty is way too difficult/cheap for a first time player, trust me on that.

Just make sure you try and save your ammo as much as you can, zombies soak up a lot of bullets.

Also fuck Lickers when you encounter them

honestly I stuck to assisted but I only wanted to read the game description of what the mode was exactly and I selected the game by accident so will stick with it for now.

I just want to play through, enjoy the graphics and atmosphere and not think too much.

Nothing wrong with that so long as you beat a licker's face in, fuck those guys.

Also save often, you really do not know what's around the corner, I'm fairly certain that my first playthrough on normal mode I accumulated a grand total of 84 total saves.

Let me know how far you get and how much you shat yourself when you encountered Mr.X for the very first time.

GG, some annoying things in there like alligator chase and I did look up one or two things to simply save me hours or possibly getting bored as there always some semi obscure things but all in all a high quality game and well worth the £15.

Mr X was cool and creepy but was really just an "Engineer" from Prometheus in a Trenchcoat..

Might come back to it in future and play Claire or something, but for now I'm done!

Some great visuals though. Gonna be scary how good graphics are in 5-10 years time.

Combat could have been methinks, making sure players find more interesting weapons etc, I went through game with SG and pistol only!

Had some bits of the other guns, but they just passed me by, in fairness I just wanted to get through the game asap.

Yeah fuck that Alligator chase, I died a number of times to it as well.

Yeah RE is one of those games where it pays greatly to take your time and examine every locker, every file etc.

Glad you enjoyed it and it's well worth playing all the different stories.

Claire's was my favourite.
