So you realize that Doom2 requires a very specific, narrow skillset, yet you are surprised that domination happens?

Thats pretty dumb thinking. Giving a player more tools to win would result in less clear-cut domination.

StrafeRun-50 (SR-50) is what you are referring too. When you enter SR-50 you also can't move your shoot angle until you release out of it.

It's a type of strafe style that revolves around using the "+strafe" key and lets you achieve really fast speeds. Automation of it tied to scripting is considered a cheat.

The key is to SR-50 notice opponent, flawless release out of it, flick Super shotgun them, and then SR-50 again until you find enemy again.

The gun balance is actually not very good. Most duel maps DWANGO etc revolve around getting super shotgun off spawn immediately and that's all she wrote. Armors and other things don't matter as much, HP is pretty useless most of the time too because SSG blast mid range is usually 2 hits or less. Up close obviously 1 hit. Even long distance Super shotgun really messes people up (long distance in a duel map, which is pretty much always mid distance).

Plasma gun is prefect for spamming, BFG has such an interesting function too in duel games as it has a dual attack, one is the legit blast, the other is the area of effect (after-shock blast).

But you don't really see the other guns, mostly just BFG and SSG in duels. In CTF and team modes you will see other guns more and you might even see rocket jump (yes, it's possible to rocket jump).

Don't forget to use a modern client like Odamex or Zdaemon.

Why nobody ever tried to balance it out a little? Give the armor and health a little more value, buff the other weapons. Sounds like a broken, basic nightmare
