Planning to buy some stickers to hide TUF.

There are some new monitors 27' and 240hz IPS panels but they are quite expensive.

Which stickers would look good?

What other 27' similar to VG259QM would u recommend? maybe too big tho. 24 seems like the sweet spot.

I had 60Hz 1200p and 25' feels too small. Big higher resolution = less fps.

there is also VG279QM but it is only 1080p but maybe it is going to be fine for you. I would prefer 1440p.

and surely you can, monitor for gaming on the desk, TV for movies in front of couch, you could use a long hdmi cable like I do, or a streming solution like chromecast or similar to bring the movie stream on the TV :D

Yeah I guess i'll just wait. I just can't believe it's fucking 2021 and you stil have to compromise between being able to watch a movie and play games and Quake. The TN panels just have garbage colors but at the same time I don't want to compromise and the responsiveness when I play a match or two.

Even LG's new CX TV turned out to be a complete disappointment. They promised us almost a monitor like experience and failed. It's pretty bad no matter how much money one is willing to spend*.

I've seen all these reviews. There isn't a single one of their monitor reviews this year. They are struggling to recommend anything but the cheap 1440p @ 144 Hz junk and only because most of these monitors aren't exactly terrible. Just not good.

What quake, out of curiosity? quakelive is capped at 250fps but there is a ton of sound drops so I wouldn't play any serious game mode over 125. I don't think there is cpu that can run quake champions at 360fps, or am I wrong? So what's left? qw, cpma and diabotical?

I think 360hz ips panel would be as good or better than your viewsonic. Wouldn't count on it making you hit higher acc though.
Also dunno if they really have better color, you need to check a review on tftcentral or rtings. Yes they are ips, but they put everything into getting 360hz. Eg. my monitor gets worse colors when I tuned it to 240hz, compared to 120. Doesn't bother me in quake so I just use 120hz for everything else.

Yes it's easily noticeable. Feels better and feels like you can play better, but when measured I don't see any difference in my accuracy or anything. Perhaps with rockets? It's hard to judge, but not hitscan. It feels so much easier on your eyes that you won't want to go back. Can't speak of 360hz, probably less of a difference. When game drops down to 200fps I often don't even notice.

I have to find someone that has owned ViewsonicXG2401 or similar and compare the colors. If I get a better Quake experience + better colors then it's worth the upgrade I guess.

If you play at 125fps then I don't know for sure. perhaps if new monitor has less blur it can be noticeable, but your viewsonic should be pretty good already.

It's pretty decent, the problem is the colors are garbage. A game like Doom 3 is a pain in the ass to play. Pretty much any dark spots is annoying to look at.

Anyone got one of the 360hz monitors? I really want to replace my XG2401 with something that doesn't suck in dark areas of the games/movies while still not hindering the Quake low input lag and no ghosting requeriments. Considering the MSI one

When windows 10 update comes out that supports 1k rate,best to stick with 500hz. I know that update is in alpha stage from what some have said on bbusters. I’m not sure what alpha stage is when it comes to a win update. Is it 2 months/years away? Who knows

Omen x25 1080x240, very good response time without MBR

XL2546K " " nice for cs and pubg due to vibrance settings and customizability. Always been a Dyac enjoyer. Slight input lag penalty for nice clear motion ingame if you have solid framerate.

Omen X27 1440x240 TN. Has bad coating and headache inducing PWM. Had to return. Was pretty good otherwise.

^ these seem to have excellent colors and decent response times for IPS. They're slightly slower than the x27 which is a TN which was good enough 95% of the time unless people are ramming their dodge Keys. Became a bit blurry in that case.

VG279QM. Best IPS i tested. OC's to 280 but felt better at 240hz. Had no input latency at all. Felt CRT like snappy. 27" 1080p though, you'd have to accept it not being sharp. Think most quake players would like this one. I just prefer TN, just better response times. IPS monitors certainly feel less input laggy though, especially this one.

XG258Q. Shit motion response and colors but same level of snappiness compared to the VG279QM. Doesnt really have blur but a lot of overshoot. Doesnt matter much if u get used to it. 1080x240 TN

AW2518H. Very good response times and decent colors for first gen TN. Reminds me of the x25 Omen. Easy to pick up 2nd hand cheap nowadays. Not the snappiest inputwise but it makes up in motion clarity.

I tried the monitors I mentioned and many more. These are the only ones I can recommend that are still being sold.

Honorable mentions, get these if cheap 2nd hand or on sale:
Xv272, low input lag decent colors. Cheap. Decent response time.

Xl2546, nice with dyac. Decent without dyac. Worth 20 02nd hand or cheaper. Bit laggy

PG258Q. Goes very bright. Good pixel response time. Input laggy. But some of the best OD tuning of 1st gen. Was really easy to LG people with 237 framecap + gsync and vsync ON in QL. 200-225 max

XF250Q: 150-175 max


Avoid:
Xf252Q good pixel response time but felt very input laggy.
AW2521hf. Trash motion clarity
Aoc 24g2zu, awful motion clarity (its a crime)

Did you tried the 360Hz ones? I had the aw2521h 360hz and the ph259qn is arriving today, not sure what you talk about but the 360hz are the best. The 390 one is shit from what I heard. Had to send back the aw2521h because gsync wasn't working.

Haven't tried them personally. But from what I can see in the reviews their 'total' response times are around the 6ms mark which is well above twice the refresh window of 360 hz (2.77ms) which would lead to smear/blur during fast pace action/movement.

It wouldn't be a major drawback most of the time, but in important situations like having to track fast moving opponents either when they're doging/strafing real fast in a 1v1 situation or flying through the air is going to possibly hamper your performance and inhibit your efficiency of pin-pointing the targets 'exact' location.

Granted, the input latency and high refresh rate will make the games feel snappy and very smooth. So it's a trade-off to what you feel is more important to you. I'd still take a solid 240hz TN over a 240/360hz IPS if I was playing for money or in a hyper competitive setting.

So what should I do? do I just stick to my XG2401 and assume we are stuck in this limbo of shitty monitors forever?
