I think EU compensates with daily (nightly) ctf & tdm QL pickups, something I don't think is happening in NA

NA needs "pickups" to organize a single duel almost every day. Don't hate on them.

Meanwhile, Europe still has QW public FFA. QL TDM/CTF pickups are so fucking rare I don't even. Like seven 4v4s per day, fuck waiting for that, I'd rather live in NA and play a duel once a quarter.

You just need some dedicated community organizers and a properly organized/advertised discord.

Also can someone add an "OSP" movement as a mode to get the original OSP faster movement? ever since they fixed the FPS distance jump thing VQ3 just become slower continuing with QL. They should make a mode that's whatever speed you got with 125fps fixed like that.

No anticheat afaik. I think there are a bunch of Q3 or Q3 based projects going on. So they might be receiving updates.

I am not talking about end of support from rhea. Arqon forced us to play vq3 on cpma then ditched it and wanted to force his cq3 shit. As far as i remember Rhea was ready to give source codes to community but there was no point in that because od CPMA and now they only stick with updating PM.

PS: Don't get me wrong, it's awesome that CPMA is still being developed but it's just sad no one cares about vq3.

It was never solely his to give. That's what happens when you collaborate. All parties benefit. All parties gain a level of ownership.

Handing out OSP's source code would have massively compromised CPMA.

That's not how this works.

You can't make CPMA vq3 feel more like OSP without fundamentally breaking huge chunks of the CPMA client. The decisions that were made back then were never made out of malice or disregard. They were made because this was all Kevin and the others could offer the OSP community, without breaking our own mod.

And iirc, updating OSP itself on Rhea's behalf wasn't even an option, a) because it wasn't cpmdev's place to, and b) because Kevin didn't have the source code for 1.03 or 1.03a.

OSP isn't cpmdev's responsibility, nor do the codebases look even remotely similar now. The man you want to be talking to gave up on the mod decades ago. That's not on cpmdev. That's on Rhea.

Also, just to add to ninemil's point - arqon and the cpma devs just didn't care about VQ3. That was the whole point of the mod and continues to be the driving impetus for CPM to this day. These guys want to play promode, not the latest iteration of VQ3.

They don't care about VQ3 and they didn't need to because it exists in another form and everyone switched to it in 2009. That being said, the next time a development house wants to take an IP with a flourishing third-party development and server scene back under its own wing, don't just nod and say yes.

I'd appreciate if someone can brief me about it. Seems like something that happened before I played, and I'm always interested in history. Did Id Software hire the OSP devs or something?
