These movie makers need to learn compression tecniques. The resolution is too big and you shouldn't need more than 24/25 fps. How it's even possible for a 11 minute movie to be 300 mb is beyond me.

It just seems so weird to me, why use countless hours making a movie and then not use the two hours needed to read a bit about compression/size/fps?

The more movement per frame the bigger the file. And this has lots of movement. And it looks very good. And the higher the resolution, the higher bitrate is needed to keep the visual quality.

And the more frames per second the movie has, the bigger it will be. And 30ish frames per second is smoother than 25. It is noticable.

If it's too big for you, don't download it.

I won't download it. The point remains however. 30 fps shouldn't be smoother than 25(all PAL dvds are 25 fps and most divx movies are 24). Maybe you'll notice it with slowmotion effects, I don't know. And of course you need a very high bitrate with that resolution, but why use such a big resolution in the first place? There's not one good reason for using anything bigger than 640x480.

The point I was trying to make was why moviemakers don't even try to make the movies as small as possible when it really isn't that difficult. And that point is still valid.

The high resolution should be obvious. It looks better. I like 800x600. It shows lots of detail. But that of course, needs a higher bitrate to pay off.

However. There could have been a low bitrate version.

For slowmotion scenes you export more frames per second. You should never slow down a 25/30FPS clip. That will always look very bad. Unless of course you are going for some special effect.

And a gaming movie has usually alot more changes per frame than feature movies like DVD's usually are, so the increase in FPS will help make the action look smoother.

But anyway. You are missing out on a great movie here if you don't download it. Cause this movie is totally awsome =)

You have some good points. My cpu seems to have problems with 800x600 movies, dunno why. Anyway, almost all users use 1024x768 or higher, so media player still needs to resize on the fly even with 800x600. I suppose you could say 800x600 looks the best, but with 640x480 you could have over 50% higher bitrate and still have the same filesize, which should look better no matter what. For optimal viewing you should change your resolution to 640x480 before viewing so no resizing is neccesary:)

Anyway, we seem to disagree and that's ok with me.

My desktop resolution is 1600x1200, so 800x600 doesn't really look that different. And most movies that come out (gaming movies) are so low quality, that the resizing isn't all that noticeable ;)

I actually did as you said and downloaded it after all. And I must say, it does look damn good. I still didn't like the movie though. The music was absolutely horrible(that's just my opinion of course) and the frags weren't that spectacular.

By the way, don't you just love these dialogues on a public forums?:) And for a great fragmovie, download The Art to Frag(even though that one is also alot larger in filesize than it should be....)

I just saw The Art to Frag. Pretty good indeed. Kinda like a mix of movies like Chicks dig X-Pex and Norslund/Odolinski - chapter 2, but more like the first. But sozous movies is more too my liking when it comes to CS movies. But it was good. No doubt about that.

I even looked at the page source, there wasn't anything to click on but the peakcounter, which didn't do anything...do you need to register somewhere to download, or what?

You just click on one of the arrows to the left of the stars. But I've heard about others that don't get the arrows when they visit the site. If that happens to you as well, just use the www.own-age.com mirror.

Hmm...I tried using IE, Netscape, and Opera, and none of them see those - for me, they aren't even in the source code of the webpage :( I tried the own-age one, but the archive was corrupt or something ;(

I'm the one who put the archives up on own-age.com, and I have tested them. They work flawlessly for me.

It was probably because I was running out of space on my hard drive, so it didn't have room to combine the archives. I'll try again....

Have you installed XviD? If you have just a MPEG-4 decoder, or XviD decoder, you might wanna try installing the newest XviD (even though the movie is old) and try again. If it still doesn't work, uninstall XviD, go through your register and delete anything with XviD on it, and reinstall XviD, then try. If it still doesn't work, I don't know :/

Hmm no one else had problems with a bad zip? :( Ive dowloaded twice and in both was a bad zip and unable to extract movie.

Try unzipping it with the latest winrar.
