Pure brilliance!

I thought that was absolutely stunning, one of the best gaming films i've seen. Loads of gaming vids try to achieve a cinematic style and flair and usually fail miserably but this one really pulled it off via the combination of an ultra-high image quality, smooth direction and intelligent editing. The tricks weren't bad either. ;)

One small criticism would be the use of that Breath track, which didn't really fit. Imo, thrashy hard rock/metal music works pretty well in frag films but something more ambient and mellow is usually a better accompaniment to tricking.

totally agree, i thought that piece of music didnt work that great. The first bit of music was great though and the end bit.

I thought all the tracks worked well including the breathe one up until they actually started the vocals... but the instrumental part really fit =x

Well that's true, the opening instrumental on the track worked well but then the bloke started singing and it all went a bit pear-shaped. =)

As a non-quaker, unfortunately those tricks don't mean much to me, since I don't know any of the arenas. Therefore I'm not the person to judge/rate it :)
It's funny to watch, but not at all *really* exciting to a non-quaker imo.

Prettty good, except that first song was so crap i almost turned the video off. However had the the whole movie been like how it was from 7 minutes and forward it would have gotten a higher vote, i gave it a 7 :)

impressive, good original editing in places also. only problem is it seems to go very low quality in a couple of places? weird, other than that its a nice movie.

yeah, on that grey map with very detailed wall textures, the codec compression really messed up there

I agree. For fragmovies hitsounds sometimes is necessairy because it can be hard to make out some of the railfrags, but i cannot understand why someone wants ingame sounds for a trickmovie.

For this movie, and Are You Ready? I really like ingame sound. Worked really well.

For one thing, timing is a crucial skill in tricking and adding sounds gives a better indication of how the player fared in this respect. In-game sounds also make you feel less detached from the action and it just adds a little more oomph when you hear rocket explosions, pain sounds etc. When a tricker is striving for that extra millisecond and you hear yelps of pain it makes the film that bit more dramatic. =)

those reasons can be summed up to the same as what i'd say :)

Trickjumping is hardly how I would define ACTION.
I guess we define tricking differently. I look at like I would looking at a footballplayer dribbling past an opponent to show off. Fun to look at, but MOST of the time pretty uncessesairy, and not really usable in actual games.
Hence I never really feel like PART OF THE ACTION when i watch a trickmovie, the guys performing the tricks probably failed the first 15 times before they succeeded doing the trick.
So, music is really important here, IMO (more important than in a fragmovie almost), but sounds from shooting weapons and etc isnt really needed to pick up whats happening, since you already know that whats happening. Its not like in a fragmovie where you can hear every hitsound from a machinegun or lobbed grenade hitting its opponent two corners away :)

In-game sounds may not be essential (imo they aren't absolutely required in frag films either, since the intended audience is usually sufficiently informed to be able to decipher what's going on anyway) but they do help to give a clearer picture of what's taking place. As i said, timing is important in tricking and jump and weapon effect sounds help to convey this skill in a more complete way, just as hit tones and pain grunts in frag vids serve to provide extra data to clarify the exact content of the action in that instance. If the film maker wishes to put in the extra effort, what harm is there in including the sound effects when they can only provide more information about what one is viewing?

I'm not really into trick jumping. This is maybe only the second tricking movie I've downloaded, and I have to say I was very impressed. Not just by the tricks, but by the movie overall.

The only annoying part was the selfdamage blood.

EDIT: I like the sexy mrks gauntlet.

I'd say that this was the best gaming movie I've ever seen. It had such a great feel to it that it doesn't need any frags to do the trick.
