This movie is about todays Quake2 team deathmatch by a Finnish clan Kontula. Along that the main idea is to correct other Q2 movies' weaknessess and bring the level up, perhaps nearby Q3 movies' average.
The videoediting is left simple and stylish while doing best effort with keygrip. Music is synced with the movie.
awesome !
i love the amount of "visable" teamplay included, i feel that's really missing from most/all gaming movies, brought back some very fond memories
Remember the days when you could always get a 4v4 in CTF or TDM and there were tons just waiting in line on the duel servers. Oh boy that practically has me droolling remembering :P
q2 was awesome.. about time a movie WORTHY of it came out (yes that was a subtle "you suck" to just about every other q2 movie that's come out).
The music in this was so trippy/trancey... not really genre-wise, but it just kind of hypnotized me and made the movie even better. Strange.
Clips that stuck out after watching it... the grenade jump up to the mega and then blasting the guy who went around to get it... the bfg airshot, and the 3 (4?) bfg misses in a row heheh... the grenade juggling on the edge, that song (or was it just sound effects?) that had the "dive bomb" noise from old electronic toys hahaha...
Just shortly after I saw this, I found Faces Of DestructioN III by Doughboy1er @ own-age.com :) Which also was very good. The two best Q2 movies I've ever seen so close to each other. Very strange ;)
strange that noone's mentioned pure old school - scandinavia. i think the KTA-movie is overall better than that one, but i still think people who like q2 should watch that one as well
pure oldschool is good, but not as good as this one (visual quality that is). Even though optimizers movie contains the best players with their best frags (along with himself;)) doesn't mean it's a 100% good piece of work.
true. although not as high-tech as the KTA-movie, it still shows off a lot of great and authentic frags. i've seen other fragmovies with players with what seemed to be spiked models on several occations. one example is polish frag fest, i don't know if it's true, but it still seemed a lot like it. besides, it couldn't compete with any of these movies fragwise.
Check the shots on www.ninemil.com, I'm not sure how much they've achieved that's different to beefqake, but it feels and looks stunning. Just a shame their dev team seems to be in hibernation and the CTF pack's not done yet :/
Yep it looks fine. The thing is just not about that. I made this movie for q2 players and tried to make the movie look like the game they are playing. Since Q2E is not done and people dont play with it (europe plays with NoCheat), no one is used to it. Of course i might be wrong - maybe they just would love the new graphics and stuff. You know, in Q2 ppl change their paks (textures, sounds, etc) every now and then.
Ill reconsider about using Q2E in my next movie. The best thing what could happen is affecting in Q2E development progress by making Q2E more known to people with a movie.
I wouldn't use Q2E, it'd just look like tenebrae for qw-videos.
Bumpmapped per pixel lightning with sugar on top, I think it was a good idea to use same graphics in video that ppl are using when they play.
Faces of destruction had good editing but the frags looked like Doughboy put every frag he got in a day into that video. I especially liked the killing 10 health dudes with a chaingun, now that's skill!
Rule number 1: Do not in any situation ever say anything about the music.
It's too subjective, if the music can be heared and the quality is ok don't comment it. We all understand that ppl have different taste of music and no song can ever please everyone.
Thanks for not going into details why cradle of filth or some speed-death-trash-metal-indie-country-band would've been perfect for this video.
and what is exactly the music in the movie/ There were no reference to the musician, so i wonder/ Very nice. Especially i loved the first song and the last
