wow I haven't been on this site in a while. missed qcon 2004 completely. bought a ticket and all but everyone i knew was going to cpl summer instead. so after the zfz.cod debacle, we're taking it easy playing some cs: source now adays.
cod is dead anyways, it was a fun game till the devlopers started making all these wackass patches that fixed bugs, but made gameplay 10x more boring.
Missed wcg 2004 completely even though it was 1 hour from my house. To be honest I probably could have easily gone, but I was giving two shits about games at the time.
czm #1 in quake3? i believe it, the guy was in one of my clans for a few weeks and amazed me with his work ethic. and he was playing ctf FOR FUN hah!
Anyone here from the quake1 days? doubtful. Anyhow I talked to one of my old buds Ben Dobbs former leader of Q1 Clan Archon's Minions, he spills the beans on thresh, carmack's wife, and a lot of other stuff that was way over my head at the time because i was a noob.

A friend of mine "Shatter" from the Quake1 days passed away in 2004, he was probably about 25 years old, died of leukemia. I had no idea he was sick, and really wished I talked to him more over the past few years. I made a memorial video which includes some video clips of him playing q1ctf.It can be found here: (need windows media codec or something)

It's depressing, when I look outside my immediate clan and look around online it seems like I've lost contact with one more person I used to know (through gaming). They either grow out of games/irc or get sidetracked with work, mmorpgs or other responsibilities.. or the fact that I'm still here playing video games :/

Shame you completely missed two great events - I'd kill to go to WCG or QuakeCon. Even ESWC is quite far away, though I'm planning to go there this year, should be good to meet up with some ESR acquaintances.
But yes, life does change, even online, and people come and go. Facts of life. =/
