tle says it all really. had a wonderful time and all that, 1day skiing too. weather was superb for this time of year. check the pics i guess..
view from the house we were staying at. the mountain on the far right is Ben Nevis, the highest in the UK. We'd be doing a route on that later in the week. As you can see the weather (considering its a Scottish winter) is fantastic.

there is certainly a bonus to visibility like this though; you dont see the huge drop awaiting you.
when we hit the summit the wind was roughly 50/55mph with a windchill factor of at least -12°C. thats relatively average for this time of year, if you were to stick around you'd be dead in about an hour or so. my mum and a party of friends got stuck up there this time 6 years ago in 100mph+ winds at about 1am after doing the same route. its an increadible story of survival, many of them wrote about it after. i may post a li
nk, dunno. anyway, it wasnt nearly as bad for us.
There was a whiteout on the summit, and when you are following just a compass bearing knowing youre surrounded by cliffs, theres never a more stupid time to get the camera out when you should be holding your ice axe waiting for the leader to fall through a cornice. go me!

Well it was certainly a wonderful break from the usual shit of a workday. when youre standing ontop of a peak in conditions like that and you look around its an increadible feeling. its like another the world, youre completely cut off from everything, you could literally be anywhere. the drone of a weekday, sitting in the office praying for the clock to hit 5pm, its a million miles away,
