I think thresh has a website with a complete guide somewhere. Someone will post soon no doubt. Was pretty decent from memory.

It is pretty much just quake strats in general. Very basic but helpfull.

There's no q2 in there buddy...it's all about the original quake.

Hehe, ahh the q2 dayz *nostalgia* :)

1.All the 1v1 maps i think come with q2, like q2dm1 and q2dm5 etc. And just look for ztn2dm2 and ztn3dm2, and there is also a map called powerstrip i think was the name of the map.

2.Hehe i dont know want sort of mods are out there mate, sorry. We just played, i think the shubs and blue's(pro of those times)also didnt use a mod for 1v1. Might be wrong tho :P

3.Dunno either, i think there is a proxy called 'xania' not too sure if they allow it in tourneys.. you can get brightskins with it etc. But ahh its too hax for q2 ;) Cfg - just download some off cyberfight.org, i think you can get damiah's off that site. www.unmatched.de - for zyz and purri's q2 cfgs dunno how current they are though.

4.Other stuff, nup dunno :) If ya think of something though, just google it, normally comes up with sites/pages that help.

To play q2 online you need:

Quake2 v3.14 demo + the 3.20 patch including the CTF mod + a client.

The best client atm is NoCheat which you can get at http://www.bryceinc.com (get the 2.34 version)

As for the maps, the main ones are in the 3.20 patch (dm1 -> dm8) but for duel leagues some other custom maps are used, the main ones are:

ztn2dm3 aka The Rage
ptrip
match1
q2duel5

To play demos easily, just get demoplay.

As for the mods, you don't need to download anything for the regular q2 ones (OSP tourney or battle), only mods like RA2 and CTF requires installation.

the first is kind of the European portal while the second is American.

The best thing to do to get some help is to come on channels like #clanbase.q2.dm or #ndml where most tdm players are idling.
