What makes me want to download it still tho is to see how the fast the video is compard to the demo. the demo was about 4x faster than the video from fde2. i'll get it in a few days once i can get on BB. somebody who hasn't seen the demo dl and give us a review.

some impressive airrox and whatnot... but this map, the qw guys seriously play this ? I hope for your sake (qw guys) that you have some more 1on1 DM friendly maps than this one.

I seem to remember this map from the quake singleplayer, but then there was this big jabba the hut / uterus on the middle plateau there, maybe final boss or something ?

hah, its just a mess around map in what's called dmm4, where you start with 200/200 and all guns except the grenade launcher and some times the lightning gun.

we have lots of those maps. just for fun play really. they are fun :)

Well I imagine people play this for the same reason some players in q3 player osp Clan arena, or maybe ra3. Difference is alot smaller map :).
Played these maps in qw though a few times, pretty fun to be honest.

there is nothing unfolding, the first 10 secs look exactly like last 10 seconds, or anything in between. A 'real' 1on1 game is more than just spawning, hopping/teleporting to the middl platform and shooting rockets. In no way i´d state this doesnt take lots and lots of skill, its just boring to watch

DMM4 isn't DMM3 (which seems to be what you mean by '1on1'). That's part of why it was chosen, in fact. Doesn't mean there is nothing unfolding. Dodging, prediction aim, the finer things of Quake abound.

obviously wedont have the same perception of what the term 'unfolding' means in relation to a 1on1, i´ll try to explain my point a bit more.
Do we agree that this match could have just as welll been played in warmup, with the players counting their frags? Their is simply no itemcontrol, no enemy prediction other than first grade prediction (i hope u know what i mean with the different grades of prediction, i´m too lazy to explain-.-) involved, this match is simply not about _thinking_, its about Aiming & dodging, and u´ll hardly state that these two are "the finer things of Quake"?

No, there isn't item control. As I already said, it's DMM4. That's part of why it was chosen. But as I also said before, that in no way makes the statement 'a typical game unfolding' a lie.

my point is that there is nothing unfolding as theres no change in the game, neither in positioning nor in pace or whos got control. its just all the same for 15 minutes, so no change=no unfolding. catch my drift?
I´m not stating this isnt skill, i´m not stating r choice was "bad" or "wrong", its just not a "real" 1on1...

Its just a display of awesome AIM (and some cool modern qw graphics). How hard is that to understand for fucks sake?!?!?

It's DMM4, as I keep having to tell you. It's like RA3, but a bit deeper. It's not DMM3. Which is why it's only played for 5 not 10, nor even the 15 minutes you quote.

But that's beside the point. There is plenty of change in the game. Being tanked at middle waiting for enemy coming from long spawn is an advantage earned and used several times for example. And all this is aside to the great aim that the demo is famous for.

You're still not getting it, it's NOT a real 1on1. DMM4, ever heard of it? if not - stop bitching. I'll quote you:

Good entertainment! What's the big deal of not being a real 1on1 game when it's fun and very nice skill involved ? Since when did a so called strategic player become einstein ? Does backing up and looking at the goddamn clock make you smart or really skilled ? The way I see it, that way of playing is more of compensating for lacking other things and it's done to win, to boost egos. Tactics = experience, motivation and self dicipline, prototype FPS playing like this = feeling only. Nothing lame, no exploitation of the general flaws of the game (considering being midair and rj'ing as not a flaw). This is the better entertainment, unless you're taking your game too seriously compared to life in general. Games aren't meant to be played serious, that is why we play them. As kids or grownups, same fun.

Nice said, but having ur mind constantly thinking and calculating is more entertaining for some ppl. It depends to what each one likes. It doesn't mean that if u r timing and applying strategies other than just aiming good, u r not having fun. If that was the case, then none would be playing strategy games (like starcraft & w3) for fun. I respect ur view, but there are 2 sides in a coin and not seeing both is a bit childish and naive.

Lame is cheating or whining and excuses of the type "I play for fun", "you are timing" or "you play to win" r cheap whines.

Most ppl do it. I also have whined at times, when got frustrated (probably from +back), but I know that wasn't right. Perception of fun differs from ppl to ppl. Others enjoying aiming, others like the mentally challenge and others just like to win. All are equally acceptable.
