yea i know that looks weird, but its a whole story... at first i was a console player and i didnt want to give up my pad when i started playing q3 ('99). After a while i thought it would be better using a mouse :p so i used my pad for forward, back, jump and left strafe... and mouse2 for right strafe (same finger on the opposite hand) and it worked!
then i eventually gave up my pad (i know it was a stupid idea using it in an fps but i liked consoles way too much at that time :D) and used a keyboard, but could never really get rid of the mouse2 strafe jumping.
Yea i know it sounds crooked but it doesnt disturb aiming at all... for me that is :p
I guess you can get used to pretty much anything.. even though i wish i had started playing with esdf in a "classical" way :/
Sorry, but I think I can score idiot points here:)
I use arrows to move around, also hacked some of the buttons to make them easier to press. I alos had to remove a button to stop the keyboard locking up. Dont ask!
Well I used a MS Intellimouse years and that thing was so very light.
When i moved on to logitech for the better tracking I found the mouse way just way too heavy and because i use a mouse for work I was worried that moving something for so long in the same directions was gonna screw my writst up.
I'm pretty sure any serious FPS gamer over 22 will probably confess to getting little twinges in their arm and wrist.
If they don't then then I can assure you they will.
Gaming is not good for the body.A lighter mouse allows me to reduce fatigue and damage to my arm.
Not playing is not really an option :)
if you want me to elaborate more on my weapon bindings for pk...
6 = grenades
7 = rockets
/ = stake
h = shaft
k = shotty
l = painkiller
j = secondary fire
mouse1 = +attack
cpma is
j = zoom
6 = nades
7 = rockets
one / = shaft
two / = rail
three / = plasma
(a little explanation on that... i come from qw, and there was no rail, and at the time, binding another key for me was kinda lol, so i just double tapped /... i also kinda keep in my head what weapons i have other than the rl, so if i need plasma i might only press / once or twice... fucked up and difficult to understand why, i know, but it worked for me) :)
you'll notice in most of my cpm demos that when i switch from rl to rail, you'll hear the weapon switch sound twice :)
Left = y
Right = u
Back = right alt
