Anyone got any PowerK dm17 demos? This guy was fucking sick. Would have been interesting to see what would have become of him had he stuck to the game competitively.
I have a zip file with demos from CPL Asia (date says Jan 2000) with PowerK -vs- AkiraK on dm17. I've watched it after your comment ... but it's a bit dissapointing ... nothing special anymore. Although it's still a classic because I can remember the moment I first watched this demo ^^
i like how maka plays. you get the feeling of his thoughts somehow, the inner struggle. it's like you can witness his thinking in a game. compare that to the more "robotic playing" people like czm, cooller or fox... is it just me?
kind of, most high sensitivity players are like that, it seems to amplify every tiny movement. haven't seen any top player using a high sensitivity in ages, a dying breed.
You're right, he was very dynamic, might still be. z4 learned a lot just watching maka play and we all know z4 is extremely good when it comes to dynamic and adaptive play. They're rare I guess.
i think z4 and maka got the high sense style from thresh, heard rumours z4 played/practiced with him and maka did for sure. they're all west coast etc.
thresh had plastic surgery paid for by his winnings and had his name changed to john hill in 1999 and continued whooping everybody's ass!!!1!!11!!1! hehehehe
i grew to appreciate makaveli's demos a lot more once i had played quake a long time and realized how dominant aim was. here was somebody at razer who _wasn't_ aiming as well as other people, but he used smarts and experience to get second place anyway. very impressive stuff in retrospect. it took other players (like cooler, socrates) a long time to figure out some of the little things maka did at razer. but at the time he just seemed like a famous player owning as expected
not totally sure about q3, but at least in his late q2 phase he was one of the first people to figure out how to use the rl very well - def. learnt a lot from thresh in this department.
