Well, there are about 4 reasons actually :)

1. It means the link doesnt get spammed over irc, and we suddenly get a ddos style bandwidth hit..

2. More Registered users = more reason for the bandwith sponsor to be happy, more reason for people to return.

3. We can lots of fun juicy stats asscociated with users, so that it can add to their profiles.

4. To stop mindless hyperlinking by other sites, with no mention that we have spent the time and energy to record and upload and build a site and create a brand, and get sponsors and blah blah :)

It's costs a lot of money to host files, plus the more registered users then the better fnatic are in a position to approach sponsors.

On the fatality front it was not just his config changes which improved his game, he changed mouse and is now using the MS Explorer 3.0.
A lot of good gamers seem to be using that technology/mouse combination, fat,tox,fox and a good few otehrs. Must be something in it.
I hear the drivers are better than the Logitech etc.

I forgot to mention that but another funny fact is is that I used that mouse too. After Spain where I got 2nd I started using a MX518 which I still use.

Snap, but inside the setpoint drivers do you use Software implementation ot the other type (Hardware I think) to determine the mouse smoothness?
I'm using software ATM, but was wondering what you used and do you know the differences?

Seems hard to believe that there’s a technical reason, the Logitech drivers haven’t really been an issue since the MX510.
For a lot of the pros who use it I think its just sticking to what they know, its not so common now but a lot of good players stuck with ball mice for quiet a while and did fine. In Fat’s case I think changing mouse when you’re so used to what you use can throw your game enough to make you relearn parts of your play and work out bad habits, same thing with changing config sometimes actually.

I head ""pro's"" use the default windows drivers because on some events the computers are already there, they just need to insert their mouse and they are ready to go, no hassling with drivers and no tweaking whatsoever ..

I suppose the MS mouse might have the advantage when that’s the case, either that or it just throws most of the technical differences out the window. Oh and no inverted commas needed, I was actually referring to people actually making enough money to call themselves pro or semi-pro at the moment ;)

what are you talking about theres already a link there and you wont be downloading it from anywhere else either(and its a 1way download so its leeching if you register or not). if they wanna boost with numbers they can keep track of downloads. if they dont want external links they can do as most other sites do with the wait x second script shit while they bomb you with ads.
