How lucky for you, I personally hate them :) Both Swedish and Danish are ugly spooken languages, along with German. Urgh, they give me shivers (in a non-stimulating way). Norweigan is classy though.
Well, danish is... special (and the language I actually studied). On the other hand, I really like the melody in spoken swedish, although it has more character in norwegian from the little I know... Some swedes might beat me up but i'll confess when I first heard a norwegian talking to someone I thought he sounded like (and was) a swede :p
I think you should listen to a few tapes of dutch and then reconsider the bin you're putting swedish in. Although they all originate from the same north germanic roots after all.
Ok I also might get beaten up by norwegians with this but what the hell. When I figured out the difference between spoken swedish and norwegian, I said something like "well, I don't understand why they say danish sounds like drunk swedish. Norwegian sounds a lot more like jolly tipsy swedish !"
Yeah, kinda melodic. Also I think it's an interesting challenge for people learning the language, make it sing right.
On a side note I tried to hear some more icelandic than the practical hallo / hvar er klosettið / ég tala ekki islensku things, and the few icelanders I heard speaking in person were rather quiet. If you could give me a few pointers on where to hear some more that would be great !
Yeah, I know that -I'm just comparing how they sound like here. I mean, I can read just as much of aftenposten.no as I can read ekstrabladet.dk, and I didn't ever study norwegian :/
If anything, I'd expect swedish to sound different, seeing as it reads rather different, instead of danish sounding different :/
