Because he jumped twice, but it's not a double jump. There must be a very short interval between two jumps for a double jump to happen... if it's supported (which it is not). These two jumps aren't exactly close enough.
This behaves very close to D3's physics. A proper doublejump would kick you upwards more significantly. That's just the stair's ramping effect =)

unless raven decided to add double jump capability only on stairs, which would seem kinda odd.

it's only stair ramping, a la d3.
try the same thing with only one jump and you will see : omg, exactly the same effect !

never touched d3 mp. so you gain hight simply by jumping on stairs? they might have as well included real double jumps (unless it's unintentional and just a carry over from the d3 physics...not sure I like that thought).

they just didnt manage to let all stairs behave the same way, some are exactly like ramps, some are are not aka speed show stoppers :(

q3 has the same thing, stairs that looks liek ramps, ive noticed ont he edge the curled steps are problematic to the physics, it is possible to jump up them but you have to turn with the steps so each step u land on u hit dead on, kinda tricky to do

Looks really clunky jumping like Doom 3 and the later ut series. Why does every game have to have a judder and delay every time you jump these days? Like youve got sticky boots on.

some of those maps look like crap. i hope it won't be as dumb as ut series.

actually i think this game looks very very choppy and not flowing at all. judging from videos id say it sucks donkey balls, but ill try it out soon eough

The movement is absolutley shite, I am trying to run about a map - I try to strafe jump up the stairs on 'the edge' and its not possible. You cant jump on crates properly (you must face the crate head on and jump onto it). Strafing into a ramp totally fucks your speed up and you stop (sometimes). You cannot press and hold jump to get onto a highish ledge/crate.

Absolutley no double-jump whatsoever, totally NO.

Rocket jumps appear ok.

Rockets are definitley slower, but coming from q2 thats a good thing for me ;)

OFC, the newbs wont give a shit about all that crap so its up to a mod team to 'fix' it, if they consider it to be a fix that is.

Ok, tried it now.
There are rampjumps as in doom3 but i get alot higher, no double jumps tho! (as seen in the vids) This is the most annoying part in the game for sure! =D
I was a bit amazed my bloody old r8500 got 60fps at low quality, actually very playable.

In time, it will be a nice game but as it is for the "release moment" it feels a bit rusty tbh :)

The weapon script say 900 ups. I'll stop saying it's because of the smaller prestep time, everyone keeps saying "wahh, there's a delay between the click and the rocket shooting !"

They probably have the rocket firing from the centre of the player model like Q2 whereas in Q1/Q3 it fires from the hitbox or whatever. This would make the RL seem slow and unrepsonsive.
