Actually it's playnetdemo in the console otherwise it gives an error. playdemo is for the demos recorded with the large sized ones.

ahhhh thank you. i was wondering why playdemo wasn't working

1. Bring down console
2. Type the first few letters of any command
3. Press <tab>

Usually a good help when you have a clue like "play..." on which it'd give you a couple (3?) of alternatives, one being the PlayNetDemo. :)
