Anyone got this down yet? When you strafe-jump you can do crouch-jumps in between to gain speed. But it's hard because 4 key-actions are involved: Left / Right, crouch, jump, forward. Good timing is needed.
I totally agree that it's all personal preference. However, I have and used a 3.0 before and still never "slamed" my middle finger. I think it's the way I hold my mouse or something, or it's the fact that the tips of my fingers never really leave the mouse buttons. Either way, I was just messing around, use whatever you want, but I'll keep my (considered by some) weird-ass jump bind.
I would not get too excited about it. It could well be a bug which Raven will remove in the next patch and then you'll be as screwed as a white boy in Harlem.
strafe jumping also was a bug.... if they want to remove anything, they should start with the annonying stuff like FPS drops and isntant lags.
If they are smart, they'll declare crouch sliding as a feature even tho it might be bug. I hope they keep it... if you look at some possible moves with crouchsliding I'm really looking forward to the development of Q4s movement!
This could be the case. I've read forum posts already on the Official Quake Message Boards over at Raven with people complaining about this crouch sliding bug.
If you want sliding in, I suggest bothering the right people now, before it may be too late.
