Appreciate Your time, but I dont think that another pack of reviews will help me. I've browsed through various reviews and the only thing that confuses me (as always) - that some end up with conclusions like this: Amazing headphones, deep sound etc and some come up with stuff like this: Great headphones, but have no bass! ?!

I wish there would be someone who'd know better :)

Well, from my very short listening time with them, I will say that their bass performance was quite nice. Not much impact though, but out of a good source/amplifier, the response goes all the way down. I also thought they sounded balanced enough, albeit maybe a bit analytical. But then again, they were designed for monitoring, not casual listening. ;)

They also isolate a *lot*, and aren't the most comfortable headphones around, because of the weight, so-so headband and pleather cushions.

It would help if you'd let us know what kind of source will you be using. I assume that you'll be using them at home/LAN's mostly, so they don't need to be portable?

* Nevermind, I just noticed you mentioned wanting closed headphones. 70GBP... hmm. I think Audio-Technica A500s might be a better choice for all-around use. Of course, some things should be noted about them:

- They're absolutely huge. I believe the cups' diameter is close to that of a CD.

- They don't isolate all that much, so if you're in a very noisy environment, better look elsewhere.

Thank You for the help, my primary source will be a PC :) maybe later an mp3 player..they mostly are for listening to music and gaming.

I know I could go for cheaper headphones, but I was a HD 270 for almost 3 years, and I kinda enjoyed having good headphones and now I cannot imagine not having good ones.. :)

people at headphonereviews rate HD 280pro a bit higher than Audio-Technica ATH-A500 but I think that I prolly wouldnt notice much difference, especially when my primary source is PC..

What do You think of Pioneer SE-MONITOR10R ?

I picked up a pair of the HD515's and I am very impressed. I'm not sure about the 280's but Sennheiser definitely has great quality.

ya i really wanted a pair of these a while back, but couldn't find anywhere that stocked them in silver...

but then when I saw Vo0 wearing them in the cpl 2005 final, i thought wow, i really should have looked harder if they're that good :)

much better sennheiser than that pair of headphones tho m8 look at the rest of the range :)

well im looking for closed headphones, and Im not sure if Sennheisers got more to offer in a 70 GBP price range :)

i've got HD202s. they're really cheap at around 20$ and seems good enough for gaming. never had a problem detecting enemies by their sounds.

I have the HD280pros and I would highly recommend them for gaming. Good directional reproduction and great isolation. Although at first the headphones feel quite snug on your head, they are comfortable.

What can You say about the sound quality ?

For a $100 headphone, it's quite good. Highs are pretty good but not too sharp, mids are good, but the bass is a little weak. If you can EQ it up a bit, it's nice especially considering it's range. Overall, you would be rather hard pressed to find a better closed headphone in this pricerange.

im picking up a pair of grado rs-1when i have the money for it \o/

i just bought those HD 280Pro's and a new audigy 4, but i cant hear shit, i cant get the volume up enough. when i start winamp i hardly hear any music and cannot understand freddy mercury at all :(

I have to say that You must be having somekind of problem there...maybe You should bring the soundcard or headphones to the shop, maybe theres a problem..

I bought these headphones and im really satisfied, tho using integrated soundcard only..In the beginning i felt like i could use more bass, i slightly adjusted the winamp equalizer and hip-hop sounds really nice.
I had HD 270 before, so im really satisfied :)

im using my onBoard sound now and it works very nice :D

if ur willing to fork out 200 bills. the beyerdynamics dt770pros are. amazing for music and gaming alike. HUGE soundstage and alot of bass.

i use the beyerdynamic dt880 and they are amazing. beyerdynamic really makes quality stuff. although i mainly bought them for music (with an amp), they sound great on my pc too and are awesome for games. one problem though is that they will probably suck at lans since they are semi-open.
