IT is true that singapore has banned chewing gun from being sold or used in singapore. If found chewing it or dumping it on the pavements it can be a $1000 fine.
Apparantly, our taxi driver one evening told us that they confiscate it from people at the airport when arriving sometimes...
I can say for sure though, its a really nice change being able to walk around with no chewing gum or litter anywhere.
Total different way of life, didn't see much in the way of binge drinking idiots like we have here.
It's not a harsh place to live, the strictness isn't as intense as you'd expect, regarding chewing gum our tour guide told us people import it and sell it. chewing chewing gum is fine, you jsut need to dispose of it properly.
Singapore was by far the cleanest country i've ever been too in my entire life and i'd easily live and work over there, the weather is kinda intense but after a week or so you slowly start to get used to it, it was more humid then what dallas is during the summer and i orginally thought that was the worlds sauna.
